Nice story, but we need to send him to American Culture 101. Everybody should know about Johnny Cash and the boy named Sue.

Last season, when EJ was injured, the Vikings signed Nap Harris to replace him....now that was a disaster.

The reason Brinkley was picked in the draft was for depth at linebacker. He's big, fast, and hits people....he'll be just fine.

I wish him well. He knows how to play but the defensive sets could use a little help from Ben and Chad. We need to hit hard and often this week and put Romo and the 'boys on the defensive early. Keep it up with unpredictable plays.

Jasper needs to explode thru the holes and blow plays up in the backfield, watch some film of the greats like Ray Lewis, he bust plays before they happen, not after they develop. GO VIKES! send Romo to IR

If defense wins championships, then we could be in trouble. Our "D" has been too hard hit with injuries this year. I hope Jasper B. has the game of his life against Dallas. Skol Vikings.

Jasper's a hitter. He got burned a couple times in that first game, tightend touchdown for example, but he seems to learn fast. Haven't seen any egregious mistakes since. I see him making some big plays on Sunday..."That's MISTER Brinkley to you, Romo!"

Make no mistake, I like Jasper Brinkley's future with the Vikings. He's got the physical tools to become an excellent linebacker, especially as a run-stopper. But right now, today, Brinkley just isn't ready to handle the tricky stuff. Dallas will bring a dozen delayed draws and throw 8 middle routes to Witten on Sunday. Will Jasper Brinkley see them coming? Will he be able to perform the art of predicting where the ball is going? His first few games say 'No.' As a rookie, he simply hasn't got the experience to recognize what's going on, to see through the deceptions.

That is why I think the Vikings should stick Kenny Onatalu in the Mike, and let the smaller, faster special teams guy fly to the ball. He'll get fooled a few times, too. But Onatalu is more likely to disrupt a screen or penetrate to catch a delayed draw behind the line. I have not yet seen Brinkley anticipate and get ahead of a play.

I sure hope you're right. The trick for Brinkley is to study like a demon, then translate that film study into "instinctive" action. EJ Henderson wasn't born a great linebacker; he made himself into one by working his butt off to learn how to read defenses, then devising ways of totally messing them up. Brinkley may not be ready to play at that level, but let's hope he's at least ready to be in the right area to limit the damage past the line of scrimmage.

jasper is going to have trouble if he gets in too many play action passing situations as that is where he has mostly gotten burned. any situation where he is going to be called upon to defend witten will also be tough for him. but, he does well in the run and if we can get him off the field in third down he will do just fine. i like the kid a lot for the future, its just really hard for a kid to come in first year and have to defend the pass against a team like the cowboys. this will be a great challenge for him.

This kid is dumb as a fence post on the field, and obviously the apple does not fall far from the tree with his father being an idiot for naming his kids those names.

The best thing Jasper Brinkley has going for him is that E.J. Henderson was overrated.
