Vick Out, Fans Gone

Wondering where the worst sports town in America is?
Just shoot down Ga. 316, and in about an hour you'll be waist-deep in the most apathetic, fair-weather fans I have ever observed.
The armpit of the American fanatic landscape, or Atlanta, couldn't manage to fill up the stadium during the 2003 Falcons home opener Sunday.
The Georgia Dome was nearly deserted when Doug Johnson linked up with Jimmy Farris for a 42-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to pull within two points of Washington.
What's wrong with you people? Your team beat Green Bay in Lambeau Field last year -- in the playoffs!
The Falcons were a Super Bowl contender five years ago. Atlanta has a good football team, well deserving of support, even without No. 7, Michael Vick.
But that city, which can't sell out Braves playoff games, left almost 10,000 seats vacant Sunday. Pathetic.
What surprised me the most was the amount of trash-talking to the visiting fans. Maybe it's different against divisional rivals, but still, I only got heckled once.
Walking into the men's room sporting a Champ Bailey jersey sometime between Patrick Ramsey's third and sixth sack, I was called out by a large gentleman.
What followed was a verbal stoning with only a flimsy urinal partition between me and about a dozen pumped-up Falcons fans.
I got out intact, congratulating their spirit as I walked out the door, reminding them that the game wasn't over yet.
Save that instance, the Falcons fans were as docile as Mark Richt as he patiently strolls about his sideline, lying in wait for his plan to unfold.
Sunday afternoon, it was the "ole ball coach" whose second-half plan worked to near perfection (while I'm ragging on Atlanta, I might as well mention Redskins coach Steve Spurrier's genius).
Amidst a sack-laden first half, Spurrier put together an offensive scheme that cut through the Falcon 3-4 defense like Reggie Brown running post routes through South Carolina's defense.
I was at a bit of a crossroads when Skins super-spending owner Daniel Snyder landed Spurrier. But I quickly set aside my four years of bitter hatred for the ex-Gator signal-caller and recoiled into sweet confidence that Spurrier would be a great NFL coach. Someday.
So what does it all come down to? In terms of Falcons fan support, Mike Vick.
It looks like while Vick is out, the Dome can expect a less than potent attendance and scalpers cursing their fists of unsold Falcons tickets. You can't expect much from a team whose stadium has a DJ in place of a marching band.
In short, the fans of Atlanta don't deserve high-caliber players like Vick. They don't even deserve a team in the greatest athletic league in history.
SO VERY TRUE.!!! FAIR WEATHER FANS...IN ALL SPORTS HERE IN THE ATLANTA AREA.

even if Vick got a second chance, I don't believe his fans deserve it.

I haven’t gotten a chance to read any of Mike’s letters to Arthur, but I suppose they would go a little something like this….

Dear Art,

I heard you made a comment on Monday Night Football about me eating too much fried chicken while I’m in here, I don’t think you’ll have to worry because I haven’t been eating much. This really big inmate that looks like Grady

Jackson asked me if “I was gon’ eat my conebread” one day, although I was really hungry I just gave it to him anyways. Since that evening “Grady” has been taking large portions of my food, so my weight should not be a factor upon my release. I have attached a photo of Grady and the boys so you can get a look at the guys.

I was beginning to think that the organization was going to move on without me until you signed Joey Harrington and Byron Leftwich… LOL! That left no doubt in my mind that the starting position would be open when I get out of here in 2009. I’m going to have to cut this letter short, lights out at 9pm!

<quoted text>Come on criminology majors! yes it really can be worse. it is truely a toss of a coin! I know alittle about rehab, recovery, prison, etc. If the person is not ready for change they will not and can get even angrier especially when he has his dazzling apologist to "help"him feel more self pity! stupid people don't know thats ENABLEING at it's worst! Just hand him a joint and a pitbull and it's on! Really, with the martyer aspect it can. but if he actually sees how bad he truely f***ed up he can actually get better. He has to hit a "bottom"so to speak. of course he is probably saying he will get better IF he gets his way and plays football again. that is the scary part. he will have conditional recovery which is almost always doomed to fail. like no I won't smoke crack anymore IF you will give me my life back even though i don't deserve my life back(that is a common example. then it can and will with his kind of anger get worse!if his apologists only knew how TOXIC they really are!!!!!!!
One big potential problem is.... the enablers are gonna ne RIGHT at the prison door, waiting, as he comes out.

We'll see whther he develops the strength of personality to blow them off.

It's actually really awful for adults who have never been given limits, as children.

RE-signing Joey was probably the one that did it.

Now this was unprecedented, please - Vick will be on a team in 2009, the first day of the season, he'll be on the field:

LOCAL FOX AFFILIATE PUNTS REDSKINS FOR VICK
Published on December 7, 2002. Article 1 of 1 found.
The results are in. The viewers have spoken. And it seems as if local NFL fans are more interested in watching Tuck-N-Run than they are Fun-N-Gun. In a move that is sure to draw the ire of diehard Redskins fans, Roanoke's Fox network affiliate, WJPR-WFXR, has bowed to the demands of the ever-growing legion of Michael Vick fans and decided to pass on the New York Giants' visit to Washington on Sunday. Instead, the station will air the 1 p.m. NFC South Division

There is a POS dog fighter in prison right now, watching as the football team he betrayed moves forward, leaving him behind, in prison where he belongs.
