[QOUTE]the fins haven't made the playoffs in what 9 years? how do you expect taylor to have plaoff sacks? If you don't think JT won some games for us, you weren't really watching![/QOUTE]
first of all non-observant fan, the phins havent been to the playoffs in 7 years, and Taylor played in 6 postseason games with no sacks....Strahan played in 10 (4 just last year) and had 9.5...you may be right he did win us some games, like the 4th game of the year 5 years ago, and the 7th game of the year 3 years ago, but when we REALLY needed him, he was off dancing in his head...it was fun while we had him but he isnt worth 18 million for the next 2 years.....adjust your name please.
First of all, I said "like 9," I couldn't remember and din't feel like taking the time to look.
Secondly, sacks don't make a great defensive player. It's tough to see just how good he was or was not in the playoffs as before 2001 they didn't keep very good defensive stats, asides from sacks and INT's. If you look at '01, the first year they kept better stats, he had 10 tackles in one playoff game...I'd say that's a pretty good game...in 2002 he had an INT, one of the few bright spots on a defense that gave up 45 points!

He had 117 sacks, 3 defensive TD's and 7 INTs (for a DE that's pretty darn good!)

If you believe these numbers are average, or that this type of play didn't help win more than 1-2 games, then you are truly, as your friend roger likes to say, delusional.

he was also self centered to the extent that he lobbied against Sean Merriman his primary competition the year Taylor won the League defensive player of the year. he is hell bent on setting the record for TD's scored by a defensive linemen, which I believe he is one short of, and his off field "dancing BS" this past season. he had a great career in Miami, but he is self centered.
my behind he was self centered. the guy switched positions over and over again. he restructured his contract 7 times. he was a team captain, etc.

he played his arse off when the team was going 1-15. i dont want to hear about that bs you got there.

really? so, deion sanders was not a great players? he only had 1 sack in his career...
Mike Singletary, hall of fame linebacker...only had 19 sacks...he wasn't great? HOF Ronnie Lott: 9 sacks
did you know the sack was not an official stat until 1981? So all those great players that played before 1981, like Nick Buoniconti, don't officially have any sacks!

Go learno something before spewing your "delusional" thoughts

Yo Numbskull. You said "SACKS DONT MAKE A GREAT DEFENSIVE PLAYER". The point is... the NFL sack leaders are Bruce Smith, Reggie White,Kevin Greene,Chris Doleman, and Michael Strahan. ALL GREAT DEFENSIVE PLAYERS .......so...clearly.... SACKS DO MAKE GREAT DEFENSIVE PLAYERS.... NUMBNUTS!....Get a friggin clue dummy!

o.k., perhaps my use of the word 'deify' was overdone. I agree JT was a great player on the field (who certainly doesn't deserve all the hate he's been receiving on a lot of the forums) and, yes, by comparison to many of today's athletes, his off-field work puts him a cut above. No quarrel there. My point was simply that that fact does not really make him a super special person. The standard is relative b/c pro athletes as a class are probably some of the most narcissistic, egotistical people alive. So to be better than most of them isn't in itself saying a lot. As I define heroes and qualities that are really worthy of respect, there are many 'average' people you and I live around every day who as people far surpass JT and most other sports heroues.
But enough of the philosophizing. To return to football, I agree with your earlier post regarding a possible trade of Joey Porter. Can't say I'd be jumping up and down, but then again, at the point we're at you can never stockpile too many draft picks, so it wouldn't be a totally bad thing.
Having read a number of your posts, you've got some good insight. I respect your perspective. Keep it up.
Thank you, and the same to you.

no, sacks don't make a great defensive player, as in you don't need sacks to become a great defensive player... ever heard of the expression, the clothes don't make the man? same concept douche...

as in you can become a great defensive player without the sacks... as in Mike singletary, one of the best linebackers in the history of football didn't become a great player because of his sacks, as he only had 19...

Good luck Jason....In my opinion it was a bad move on Jasons part, toughest division in the league, he will have a better chance winning the superbowl with the dolphins than the redskins. Great move for the dolphins, second round pick for a plyer that will give you maybe 2 years at 18+ million. Great job with the zach trade also, 2 quality players for a player that is one hit away from becoming a turnip.
BTW..I missed this the first time...zach wasn't traded!

That was not your statement NUMBNUTS! Of course you can be great without sacks since many positions dont get sacks cause they dont rush the passer....DUHHHHH! But Sacks certainly do make a great defensive player as you can see from the sack leaders I mentioned....probably ALL HOFers!.....DUUUUHHHHHH!.....L MAO

I think he did what he wanted to (primadonna) The gave to you losers real hard and fast up the Kazoo!
I can could see where a female poster could enjoy that, but the rest of you get screwed again..it's another 2cnd round pick. Unlike the Welker loss, i think Jason the fake will end his carrer as a Flop. He stole the MVP from Merriman lobbying everyone that he was "Drug free" while Merriman was a druggy, nice! He took his act to a new level from there where his ego needed boosting to even greater heights to where eventually he couldn't see himself playing for a "lowly" team like the Awfulins.
If he was the man everybody thought he was he would have showed and helped you losers out no matter what the circumstamces. He gave up on your team, bottom line. The Redskins are far from bieng a Superbowl contender yet he's eager to show at thier training camp. Do any of yoos "thank you for the memories losers" get it yet or does somebody got to diagram it for you on a piece of paper. As for the greatest defensive player in Awfulin history.. i say Booyah! He was good only when he had good players around him. He didn't quite save your team last year. In fact he disappeared on several occassions.
But to put him ahead of Standfill, baumhower, manny fernandez and Doug Betters (team players) is ridiculous. Pretty good at my Awfulin history for Jet fan, Harg!
This guy's so full of himself, he must look in the mirror 5 or six times a day and say "aint i pretty" or i'm the greatest! As for the charity work he only did it to promote his business interest to sell snow cones to you losers. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHT!
LOL!!! Taylor complaining about Merriman, who was the team whining about the Patriots cheating??? LOL!!!

I didn't say sacks aren't important, if you go back and read my posts you see I mean there is more to being a great defensive players than just sacks... for example, strahan has more sacks (in more years, too, but we'll ignore that for now), but JT has more deflected passes and more interceptions...as you know, both of these can be game-changing too!

I'm not saying JT is better than strahan or vice-versa, just that they were both great players. I like Strahan too. But of course, I have to root for the fins' player!
