Team moves to retain Brown

Starting left guard Jason Brown is expected to remain with the Ravens after the team gave the restricted free agent a second-round tender offer yesterday.

This nonsensical move by Ozzie with regard to Jason Brown -- the best offensive player we have after Willis McGahee -- could very well be the beginning of the end to Ozzie Newsome. It was a stupid move that was not necessary when we're only talking about $500,000.00 between the 2nd round and 1st round tender. Ozzie has done this lowball crap before, but this is not the time or the player to do it with. Jason Brown is one of the building blocks to our O-line -- something Ozzie has neglected in the past. The Ravens cannot afford to lose Brown. If we do, Ozzie should be fired.

I like Mike Anderson but I understand why they let him go. I think Oz is making all the right moves that I am aware of. I am really looking forward to the draft but I think we should take the best player on the board regardless of position. I think we have gotten old enough that any great young talent will help.

Considering how many 2nd round picks turn out to be non-impact players, I would grab Jason Brown in a second if I was another team needing big help on the O-line. Mr. Brown has played very well. I hope they sign him to a long-term contract before another team makes an offer.

I really think somebody will come after him, especially somebody with a late round pick. I'm unsure of how the tender exactly works but could the Dolphins use one of their many 2nd rounders, like the one they got from the Pats, to acquire Brown? If that's the case, the Ravens will certainly lose Brown. He's on the brink of being a Pro Bowler year after year.

Golly, just what we need - Jason Brown could get us another 2nd round choice that Ozzie can use to build a great offensive line. A choice like Adam Terry or Chris Chambers, two 2nd rounders who could not win a spot on last year's shaky line. Or maybe Ozzie could find another gem like Cody to bolster our defense . . .

Ravens can match any offer Brown receives. Most teams w/ low second rounds have sound lines already and won't be willing to give up a second rounder and pay a backup more than 1.5 million a year

You convinced me. Lets get rid of Ozzie and make you the GM. Brown is halfway out the door. You are funny though, but would be more interesting if you had any idea what you were talking about.

Or maybe someone like Adalius Thomas, Landry, Chester Taylor, Gary Baxter, Jarret Johnson, Tony Pashos.

Don't try to run Ozzie out of town. He's easily one of the top 5 GMs in the NFL. I think Brown should have gotten the first round tender, but Ozzie does an excellent job.

Is it that you didn't read the article or that you don't understand the way the tenders work?

Of course we should keep Brown, that's WHY Ozzie made this move.

Matt is right. Also, by not mentioning the other 2 RFA's, the clear implication being profferred is that Green is the one on the outs, when it could be any of the four. A little more validation of supposed facts seems in order before putting it in writing.
