Matt Birk reportedly leaves Minnesota Vikings for Baltimore Ravens

Full story: TwinCities.com

Matt Birk apparently is a Minnesota Viking no more. The St. Paul native has agreed to terms on a two-year, $9 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens, according to Scout.com , including $6 million in guarantees.

The money was the same and with Birk stating on several different sites in a very nice way for the reason he choose the Ravens was because of his relationship with Childress has to be a huge flag for the vikings.
When Ziggy hired Childress they made a huge deal about character and conduct and now we see Brad couldnt get along with the best the vikings had in that area its pathetic

Anyone remember the movie "Major League"? The goal was to make the team suck as much as possible so the owner could move the team without scrutiny. Seems like our Vikings of here and now.

Sorry to see Matt go I believe that the Vikings made a large P.R. mistake not resigning Birk. With "Chilli" already seen as not being Fan friendly this will not help. But on the upside lets hope its only 16 or less games with chilli at the helm

Don't tell me if a rival company came and offered you a bunch of money, and you didn't really care for your boss you wouldn't go. Of course you'd go. I don't fault Birk for going. I'm sad he's gone and Chili is still here. But if the Vikes don't make a serious dent into the playoffs this year he'll be gone too.

Birk made 6 million with the Vikings last year....he signed for 12 million over 3 years with the Ravens. I heard that the Vikings would match the offer, but I don't think Birk wanted to come back.

You're right about a conflict with Childress, but maybe Birk thought he was more knowledgeable and should be making coaching decisions....perhaps he'll come back to Minnesota and replace Chili....something to be said about a coach that actually played in the NFL.

If you read birks comments he says over and over how much the ravens have a positive vibe and are going the rite way. What does that say about the vikings. Here is a smart guy from harvard as we all know so well and he jumps ship on the vikings. That is not the kind of stuff that sell tickets. They Need to make a splash in free agency again like they did last year with jared allen or else we could be looking at alot of blackouts this coming season

This is nothing more than a case of Childress's out-of-control ego getting in the way of making the right personnel decision. The fact that McKinnie, with his history of legal problems, is still on our roster with a fat contract only demonstrates further that this was Childress's attempt to get rid of a player who wasn't drinking the kool-aid.

And we get this from the same delusional idiot who continues to believe that he can mold Tarvaris Jackson into the next Donovan McNabb. How long, Oh Zygi, will you hold back your hand from smiting this incompetent boob?

Well, the Vikes are having a great off-season. They still have a quarterback problem, and no QB of starting quality on their roster. They've just let their center (one of the top ten in the league) walk away and don't even have a semi-proven replacement. They're letting their best special-teams cover guy shop his services to the highest bidder and are making no effort to retain him. And us fans are supposed to believe that this team is interested in getting better? Smells like fertilizer.

It looks like Childress and Tice will go down with similar records: Four years, one playoff appearance, and fired without even a sniff of a Super Bowl. At least Tice won a playoff game.

Cry me a river Minnesota Vikings Fans. Time to find another "white boy" to hang your hats on in the Vikings locker room. Guess good ole' Matt and his Harvard education decided to "follow the money" rather than settle down in Viking country. Good riddance.

I don't even like pro football, but even I know who Matt is.
I don't know anyone other than him and the guy that always makes us lose, oh yeah.....Tavaris what's his face?
Anyway, hasn't Matt been here since pre school?
He always seemed like such a nice all around guy.
Bye Matt.....even non football fans thought you were a groovy dude.

Stupid, stupid, stupid, the childress mantra. The right side is in flux right now so what does the Vikings organization do they throw in a 2nd year player as the connector between the left and right side. Plus childress' golden boy, Mckinnie is facing felony battery charges. Stupid, stupid stupid to have let Birk leave.
I've been too pissed to comment and this is me in a calm state. Stupid, stupid, stupid childress move.
