I can see him being annoyed that his neighbor is feeding feral cats that are damaging his property, but suing her seems to be a little bit much. If he didn't want them there, he should have just caught them, or hired someone to catch them, and given them to the humane society. He sounds like a jerk.

If the concerned neighbor was concerned enough to feed the cats, she should have been concerned enough to find them or provide them with a home other than her neighbor's crwal space. Possibly, if she had not fed them they would have found another place to live that would not have damaged her neighbor's crawl space. Granted, Jason could have had them removed but then the neighbor might have complained that he was mistreating the cats by taking them out from under his home. Too many issues to look at. No one is a jerk for not wanting stray animals to damage their home.

Had I known there was a law on the books protecting her for feeding and caring for the feral cats, I would have jumped on the other bandwagon instead of the "it's her fault" one. Fair decision, good ruling. Well versed Judge. He should have a tv show...

I'd like to round all stray cats up and take them to a pound. Unfortunately they tip the ears of feral cats to let people know they belong to a colony. If he were to take them to a pound they would have either refused them or taken them back out to the "wild". I would love to get my hands around the necks of the little feline vermin that get into our car port, do their business next to or on our cars and walk all over the cars with their muddy paw prints (sorry, had to vent)....

Very loud music up until 11pm might do the trick. Perhaps pointed directly toward the "cat lady's" house.
Might even drive the cats off also.

This issue could get sooo deep.

Really, this is just a matter of trying to blame one's woes on somebody, anybody else. Is my observation correct that this attitude is becoming more prevalent?

"Blame is better to give than receive" -sorry, I don't remember who that quote is from.

If he's a professional football player more than likely he's overpaid to begin with; so why is he harrassing a lady for $2,000 which is probably more than he makes for one measly kick? Get a life!

His house is his responsibility. That includes making sure that animals cannot get into the crawlspace (or attic). If the house was properly sealed and maintained, then there wouldn't be an issue.

No, he is not a jerk for not wanting animals to damage his house, but once again there is a difference..stray cats have been socialized, feral cats are not, and these are feral cats. The judge ruled that she was in compliance with the ordinance regarding ferals. She also warned Baker that they were using his crawl space. You can not take these cats into your home and expect them to adapt, because they won't.
