Why are the Ravens taking so long to cut Jamal Lewis? I assume it is a forgone that they will eventually do so, as he is clearly not worth his upcoming $5 million roster bonus. The team was forced to part ways with Adalius Thomas due to economics, but common sense should dictate that they cut Jamal and go another direction at running back. It would be great if they would pull Michael Turner away from the Chargers.

Unfortunate as this may be, it is life in the NFL these days..........he's a really good player, and it seems an even better locker room presence, but the fact of the matter is there is only so much to go around, and for the Raven's to return 10 of 11 starters on the D is pretty good considering the player flux now....Ryan will figure out a way to keep the D strong, and this does free some cash to fix the weaknesses on the O side...I do believe the emphasis shouldn't be so much on Thomas leaving, but what the Raven's do in the draft.......this years draft and next years are very important, considering how many long in the tooth veterans they will have to start letting go after this upcoming season..........their are some very versatile linebackers coming out, and the Raven's found Thomas in the 6th round............keep the faith in the owner and Ozzie (not necessarily Billick), they seem to have a smart plan in mind.......

typical spin. the ravens raise ticket prices substantially and stay its to sign and keep players to make the team a contender, and now they let the most versitale defensive players in the league and the ultimate TEAM guy walk. i am a season ticket holder who is wondering where my ticket increase money is going.

They had to let A.D. go. They didn't have enough cap space for him and the other players they need to re-sign. You let one starter go to sign two. Tony Pashos and Ovie Mughelli, are starters they have to re-sign. Unless of course you want your QB getting hurt at the expense of helping your defense. And Jarret Johnson is another player you have to start. He will surprise a lot of people. Including season ticket holders.

Razor, are you an idiot? You mustn't be an educated season-ticket holder to NOT understand the Ravens (for PURE and simple cap reasons) cannot afford to retain Thomas...they're $3-4M under the cap vs teams like San Fran and NE who have 7-8 times that amount! They simply cannot afford to put ALL their apples in that one position, no matter that the guy is a gamer and unique talent.
As for your ticket price increase, the Ravens have actually been pretty good at holding them down vs other teams...again - think it thru. This sport is still on low end of compensation (vs like of NBA & MLB), the players are getting nice increases and Bisciotti is having to play to field competitive team. But to get upset at them for NOT resigning Thomas is WRONG. They would essentially have to GUT the team and get nothing or very little else to retain him. How bout we let go of Obviously, past-his-prime, show-me-the-money Ray Lewis...that guy will be taking home $8M in '07...do you think he deserves NEAR that???

I believe that the Ravens remain as one of the most desired places to play if you are an NFL player. This attracts good free agents and the Ravens are allowing their best to leave for that very reason. If you look at the big picture, the Ravens front office has thier stuff together. Letting AD go now does hurt, but we will probably get back more in the future because we let him and others go elsewhere.

First the Ravens give that idiot Brian Billick a 4 year extension and then pass on Thomas. They will be lucky to be a 500 team next year.

I would like to see the Ravens release Terrell Suggs and resign Adalius Thomas. Suggs gets the defense in too many tight situations with his mouth and his quick temper. Thomas is a much smarter player which in turn makes the defense better

Larry, as an Objective, knowledgable NFL fan here in Bmore (and not a Ravens fan), I hate to burst your bubble. But I think in most NFL circles, the Ravens are considered middle-of-the-pack as far as destinations go. They DO have a new, young owner committed to winning but a couple older vets that are simply too prima donna. While an Eagles fan at birth, I would LUV to someday root for the purple n' black. Happiest day will be when they get rid of egotistical, most hated NFL Head Coach in league - Billick and past-his-prime Ray Ray, who still continues to pollute the lockerroom w/his "mightier then thou" attitude. Honestly, did you think Ray Ray's performance in '06 deserved Pro Bowl honors??? He may well have been the LEAST effective starting LB for the Ravens...heck Bart Scott DESERVED to go to PB in front of him.
Like I said, get rid of Billick and Ray Lewis and I'll be happy. Would LUV to get Marvin Lewis or Jack Del Rio back in town...heck, let's get Rex Ryan to take over so Billick can live on his eastern shore Shangri-La...
