Brett Favre's 1996 Packers teammates resent him calling Vikings...

Full story: TwinCities.com

GREEN BAY, Wis. - "Physically, and from a talent level, this is the best team I've ever been on." That's what Brett Favre said a few weeks ago about his Minnesota Vikings.

It was Favre who won that Superbowl for those Packers. Granted, there was a team effort, but that team did not have the talent most other champions do.

Favre simply made a statement he believed to be true. There will always be those whose logic wants to continue the jealousy war.

Minnesota has a very hood team. Are they better than the SB Packers team ? I would tend to think so.

So, why don't others just accept an opinion ? Because their egos have been touched. Wow!! Give it a rest people.

He's just an old man whose skills are what this team needed and what the SB Packer team needed. Can not anyone see, he is a wanted man because he is still a very good player in this league. Sorry, you went for the younger QB. He's good too.

Just another conversational head ache brought on by jealous people.

I would certainly think that Brett Favre is very qualified to make that statement. Hey GB get over it, quit falling into a tizzy and peeing down your legs everytime Favre speaks. The state of WI cannot name a player on the packers offense save for AR but they can tell you the names of the entire Minn offense. Its called obsession and they have no person to blame but TT for their woes.

As long as farve has been in the league he knows what he's talking about I have watched him from minnesota and I still respected him he is a true football player he really loves the game as I do no matter where he plays. He still gave his effort to give you a superbowl how can you not respect his opinion?

"GREEN BAY, Wis.-- Brett Favre hadn't yet been outside for practice, so you can't blame the following statement on the heat:
"I really feel like this is, as far as talent is concerned, the most talented team that I've been a part of as a whole," Favre said Monday morning.
This year's team is even more talented, Favre insists, than the Packers' Super Bowl teams of the mid-1990s."

They won the big game. I won't agree with favre on this until february. This team has to prove they can put together a complete game. I love and hate these guys, but talent and personal accolades ain't gonna make it this time around......1998 anyone?

Remember we're still talking about the Viqueens. They always find a way to choke....no way this team wins it all no matter AP and Brett. Just no way. Your coaching staff is not in the same league with the bunch Holmgren had. Sorry queens but all of your disappointment still lies in wait for you.

Why does the media try to make a mountain out of every molehill?

Brett was speaking to his current team, trying to keep them fired up and to let them know how much he appreciates being on this team. It was not intended as a slight to the 96 Packers or anyone else.

The media has made Brett the drama queen he is made out to be.

I think the first two comments completely signify the lack of knowledge possessed by many Queens' fans. If Favre was so wonderful why didn't he win the Super Bowl MVP in '96? The Pack had the #1 offense and #1 defense and a difference maker in Desmond Howard returning kicks. I'll say this again that '96 team has more current or future Hall of Famers than this current Queens team could dream about. If you try to say that BF won the Super Bowl mostly by himself than you've never heard of Reggie White, Sean Jones, Santana Dotson, Leroy Butler, Eugene Robinson, Andre Rison, Don Beebe, Keith Jackson, Frank Winters, etc. BTW, people who have actually BEEN to a Packers game at Lambeau would notice more Kampman, Driver, Jennings, Woodson, Harris, Barnett, Hawk, and Grant jerseys than AR. So yes, I'm pretty sure most Pack fans can name most players on the Packers in comparison to the Queens. Nice try though.

And he loves every second of it instead of learning to keep his trap shot. What was the longest this offseason that there was no news about BF? I'd say a week and then magically something would come out of the Favre camp either by a family member or Bus. When he finally does hang it up, he'll still run his mouth to get attention for himself. He's not made out to be a drama queen by the media HE IS ONE!!!!

Who cares what the '96 Packers think?? Who cares what any Packer thinks?? Who cares what any Packer fan thinks? Isn't this a Minnesota newspaper? Stop writing stories about the Packers!!! If I wanted to read drivel about the Packers, I'd read Shooter's column. I, for one, am tired of reading them. Who else is?????

He also said this about the Packers teams he played on in 2006 and 2007, it's more just a way for him to rally the team then anything else.

Then don't read it!!!! Obviously the PP is obsessed with what Wisconsin and the Packers think so they keep pulling stories from the Milwaukee Journal. That's what happens when all your local "writers" are complete hack jobs and can do nothing but pull stories from the AP and other cities' newspapers.

Brett was definetly being positive with his present team and if you are knowledgeable football fans you will understand this. Somewhere in the archives is probably an article with Brett claiming the "96" Packers at the time were the best team. Get over it he was the guy that made that team so lets move on to Sunday. Go Vikes!!!!

Are you kidding me. To compare a team, the only team you ever won a superbowl with to a team you didn't even go through training camp with and have been on for 2 months. The best team ever, come on. I love Brett but he needs to get his head examined if he really believes that. Remember he said the same thing a few years ago as far as talent and they went 4-12. I understand he wants to win and he wants his team to believe they are that good but a reality check goes a long way also towards winning a superbowl. "We have as much talent or close but the 1996 team had chemistry and we believed in each other." Give them something to strive for not the outright Lombardi Trophy seven games into the season.

Yes and if you were a "knowledgeable football fan" you'd realize he would've said that AFTER they won the Super Bowl. Declaring that at this point in the season isn't a rally cry it's a stupid comment. The only areas this Queens team is more talented is RB and possibly the offensive line.

The Vikings have talent no doubt about it and like Really said the running back position is great. But Brett is far from his prime like he was in 1996 when the Packers had talent in EVERY position not just three or four positions. No chance for a Superbowl sorry Vikings fans. Brett won't most likely be upright by the end of the season anyway maybe not even after this sunday. If that happens you can start cheering for that other superstar quarterback you have on your team.....ummmm well there is always next year. Bet you heard that before!
