This is how you know a team is coming around on the recruiting front.....you have two Sophomore DEs starting over two Senior Des. This defense has a lot of young talented kids who are waiting to get their shot. You have two senior CBs who are among the best combo in the nation. Yeah I said it.......and I can back it up with expert opinions if I need to. You have a Senior-laden LB core, but to be honest the true freshman behind them on the depth chart are probably higher-upside players. Replogle is going to be a stud MLB. Hopefully he doesnt transfer to OSU like another MLB I can remember from recent history.

We all came into this season thinking IU's defense was going to be a liability. While its not great, it is a vast improvement from the past couple of years. They look bigger up front and they are faster at LB. I know we havent played top-notch quality teams yet, but Western was picked to finish ahead of a lot of Big Ten teams in the final season poll. They were a decent football team and we dominated them for 3 quarters. Our offense should put up points on everyone this season. If our CBs can stay healthy and we can continue to get after the QB, we will finally realize Hep's/our hopes of PLAYING 13!!!!

Go Hoosiers this weekend!!

I hope they can win this week because looking at their schedule... if they can simply win the ones that they should... they could have 7-8 wins! However after watching Ohio St. struggle all first half with this team... I am a little nervous. Ecspecially since all the little teams have the "lil engine that could" mind after app. state.

Mr. Hutchens,
You might want to check your article as printed in the Louisville Courier Journal. They mistakenly identified Indiana University as "The University of Indiana". I could not believe that a reporter from Indianapolis would make such a mistake so I checked your article on the web. Their mistake makes it seem as if someone with little knowledge is covering IU. I guess from now on I will have to get my coverage on the web if I want accurate coverage. Thanks!

Well, here is something to consider as well...

When IU was behind, the other teams would run the ball and the clock...Now that IU has had the lead and forced teams to pass there is an increase in opportunity for sacks...

Anyway you look at it, it is a major improvement for the program and I'm looking forward to this weekend's game.

Umm...IU had a total of 4 sacks last year When they started 2-0 against cupcake schools that were "forced" to pass the ball. So you're correlation makes no sense. Just give a little credit to the defense and pray they can keep it up.

Both games that I have witness reflects the defense is a lot quicker than prior years. It's apparant the both sides of the line must be big and quick to compete in the Big Ten.
Let's hope that IU doesn't get serious injuries since the dept chart is below most teams in the Big 10.

Terry, just to let you know: when your article got transferred to the Courier-Journal's site, they trumpeted the "University of Indiana"'s sack parade. CAN YOU PLEASE TELL PEOPLE THAT IT'S "IU" FOR A REASON?!
Thank you.

have to give you credit, you know what game your team will be judged on....but what happened to 'one game at a time'? traditionally, the lesser big ten teams fatten up early and then hit 'murderers row', and sweat getting to a bowl. that applies to both the boilers and hoosiers...
trust me, enjoy EVERY win, iu has a history of 3 and 4 wins early, then poof...save your crowing for the 12th week, because that might be the last one this season....

IU football is a joke, and it always will be. It's only eclipsed in futility by the sportswriters for this paper, who continue to feed the IU hopeful with delusions of grandeur.

Stick to basketball so you won't embarrass yourselves.

Yea, I don't think so.
You should really check the facts next time.
