Line of thinking, Power lines have a physical limitation: thermal capacity. As electric current flows through each wire, the wire heats up. Exposing power wires to the cooling effects of wind allows for more current to pass through the wire before reaching thermal capacity. Additionally, the poles are still called "phone poles". The telephone networkplayed a huge role in why electricity wires are elevated.

Re: telephone poles

Sounds like a good government project to employ people during this Bush Depression- put all cable wires underground. even better -get rid of the lan phones , and go to cell phones, erecting cell towers throughout the country- the kind of thinking Republicans are not capable of doing. Their solution to everything- government is bad, give tax breaks to the wealthy.

thank God, McCain and Palin are not in there.
The only demographic they won were 65 and older caucasians who are getting medicare from LBJ and social security from FDR.

Not that farfetched. The Rural Electrification Administration in the 1930s put up a LOT of the electric poles through out the country
