Maybe The Buckeyes as of right now just aren't a very good football team. You can't lose as many quality players as OSU did an expect to reload and not miss a beat the next season, no matter how good your new players are.

It's rediculous Pryor was permitted to wear the Vick under shadow! It's rediculous Tressel permitted it to happen!
Vick is a punk! He electrocuted, hung, beat, and shot defenseless dogs to death. Simply because they didn't make him enough money.
Pryor should be ashamed of himself. Tressel should be ashamed of himself. The University should be ashamed of itself.
Obviously for Tressel, being an institute of "higher" learning is of no importance. No lesson learned by Pryor about his "PUNK" hero!

I think the offense will come along, although someone needs to counsel Pryor on what it means to be a big star before he and OSU have to learn the hard way. Although I'm a Tressel fan, I just don't believe he didn't see it. Off that subject, I think Tressel's one big mistake is that he is too tied into Heacock and the relationship has biased his judgment. Heacock's defenses, even with top talent, have been suspect on almost all big games, except last year's bowl game, and if you want to see where the Bucs need to be to have a championship defense, look back to 2002, or just review the Alabama tapes from Saturday night...that will show you how far away the Bucs are. I’m a firm believer that defenses win championships, and OSU’s just isn’t there unfortunately. While 31 points should be sufficient to win most games, giving up 27 point (along with long drives, big plays and missed tackles) to an average team is foreboding. No excuses. They should have been well prepared for that offense.

One problem is that the coaching staff loves to play for a field goal (Tressel's favorite play), unless it's to put the game away. Let's face it, this team looked mediocre, and if the same one shows up this Saturday against USC, their freshman quarterback and defense are going to embarrass Ohio State again. Regarding Pryor, he needs to grow-up; if he thinks defending Vick is a worthwhile cause, then he's not the leader the team needs.

Yep ..It will take no turnovers by the Buckeyes . It could be a high scoring affair with plenty of excitement ...with the Buckeye ' D ' making big plays and Kicker Aaron Pettrey kicking the winning 55 yard field goal !

USC plays smashmouth football, something the Buckeyes haven't done for several years and something Tressel doesn't promote. We need a coach that's not concerned about his "nice" image. The good news is we won a nail biter. The bad news is the USC game won't be a nail biter.

It is obvious that the Buckeye are overrated. Starting with their head coach. It is time for there to be changes. Either at the top(Tressel) or both Bollman and Heacock have to go. Our offensive line has been below average at best for the past 5 years. The offensive schemes are below high school standards. The Big Ten is down and we are the cream of that crop. Just in the Big Ten. 4th and 2 with arguably the best athlete in college football and you try to run it up the middle? With a line who hasn't moved anyone off the ball for 5 years? Bad decision and an even worse play call. Spread it out and let your best athlete beat them with his best assets, speed and agility.

Navy out coached, out played and wanted it more.

On a positive note, Navy will be a bowl team. They will probably beat notre dame and Pitt. The were a great opponent for the first game. It is just time for Ohio State to make changes. Fire Bollman and Heacock. Get Walt Harris for the offense and bring back Pugac for the defense. Let tressel remain the "senator" and recruit, say the right things and play the head coach role. He is so far behind Mayer, Carrol and Saban to name a few in having a killer instinct. We need young blood. Hungry people leading our troops into battle!!!

What worries me it the “not smart” aspect of this.

Can a person who makes this eyeblack decision really make good decisions elsewhere, football or otherwise?

Is the person who is not capable of making the correct decision on something SO simple actually handle the 2nd check-down or the right audible at the right time?

How much learning ability does this kid have?

Given the fact that physical abilities can take you only so far, is he going to get to the point where he can be a good, semi-intelligent Q-back, let alone a decent and reasonably good citizen?

On the other hand, if most OSU fans were honest, if he beats USC, Pryor could wear swastikas on his eye-black and very few people would care....

I am sitting here waching the UC game with Rutgers. Wow, could we be awesome at OSU if we had Kelly as coach. Great mixup of plays and what a well trained O line. Our problem is not the team but rather those that attempt to coach them.

Why settle for him instead of hiring Urban Meyer instead?! Meyer will be open to taking the OSU job, if it's made available soon, imo. He's ready to come back to Ohio. Lets hope Gene Smith doesn't mess this up!

Terrelle Pryor at QB gives the Buckeyes a real good chance at winning . The Big classy sophomore QB at 6'6" 240 lbs with supposedly 4,33 forty speed - is an amazing football player . Chris Spielman stated " Terrelle is playing QB -he can pass the football with accuracy but Maybe, he's best running back in the country too " ... Wow Go Bucks beat the Trojans !

Are you people so crazy and vengeful that you would want Tressel fired, Bollman fired, Heacock fired and Terrell Pryor kicked out of school because he supports Mike Vick? You question his ability to learn an offense and lead a team because he admires someone's ability to play football. TP had a 3.0+ gpa last I heard. What ever happened to hate the sin and not the sinner? Oh my fault concept only applies to you and your heroes. Get a life and appreciate the win.
The only reason it close is because Tressel gave too much deference to Navy and all the fans who forwarded e-mails about cheering for Navy and all that sentimental crap are just as guilty as Tressel for keeping the game close, hopefully buckeye fans won't be as welcoming next week, maybe they will be more 'Vick like' towards the Trojans.

Pryor hasn't had one misstep off the field that has been reported yet. so let's chill on revoking his citizenship.

however, I agree with most other posts. heacock, bollman, and even doc tressel just reek of nepotism. old guys with old schemes/tendencies that worked like a charm in I-AA. There is obviously a book on OSU when the other team has as good or better athletes. The players keep changing. The coaches stay the same.

I am not to the point of calling for Tressel's head himself. But the whispers have grown to an audible level. Lay an egg on Saturday against a USC with a freshman quarterback and a retooled defense, and the whispers will start to turn into a conversation. Tressel is a great CEO and program leader. It isn't that we've lost to bad teams. Quite the opposite in fact. It's the inability to CONSISTENTLY compete. This program needs new blood, but it would shocking to see Tress himself go.

Offensive line...DO SOMETHING!!

Mr. Pryor...show us that you deserve all the press clippings. Be the player that you think you are and that we know you can be.

I dont care if Pryor had "Charles Manson" under his eyes or across his forehead. The O line cant block. Pryor couldnt complete a pass across the middle. Tress is handing plays to Bauserman in the second quarter (which indicates not only the players lightened up after they gained control). I saw very little from Posey, less from our secondary and the same vanilla offense. I hear people all the time talking about running a bland offense to avoid giving anything away, but there is nothing to give. The Bucks offense needs a Fiesta Bowl (2009)type gameplan to hang with USC.

I think the Trojans' defense will be Vick-like on TP and the rest of the offense. Just sayin'.....

The Navy game was field goal away from night night w/ 6:43 to go. Bucks lost edge and almost game. USC is a manhood game. No crackbacks....no trickery......."Me 'n' You for 60 minutes . I live in L A-Trojan fans think their team is unbeatable. And as far as this decade goes-they're close to being right. Bucks need a A + effort to stay IN the game.

I am reading all the calls for getting rid of Heacok and Bollman and I am in agreement, but that is not going to happen this week and probably not till the end of the season at the earliest,so we have a choice ,we can either cheer for, encourage the team to rise above the poor play calling, and bad schemes on both sides of the ball and hope the real players will show leadership, fire and tenacity in spite of coaching shortfalls,or we can just call it a season ,root for someone else while gripping about it and hope there is a groundswell at the end of the year to get rid of the old used up ideas we are stuck with. Ohio State has been blessed with being able to recruit many of the best athletes in the country year after year and then ruin them with very bad coaching that keeps them from showcasing their raw talents and abitities. We are rapidly falling from the elite ranks by our lack of agressive play and ld dried up schemes, formation and tendancies. Woody may have been noted for 4 yards and a cloud, but his o line crushed the defenses and his defenses played with fire..Something we have not seen in years...
