Seems like the same story every year. I do like the fact the Pryor does not believe in the "moral" victory.

Of course, the story follows the natural evolution of any college program...some of the veterans go opening up possibilities for a younger player to excell. But I would not underestimate the value of finally reaching a tipping point where only a few of your players remember the sting of such heartbreaking losses and the ache of media and fan opinions beating them down afterward.

An athlete myself, I know the mental hurdles left in place after similar (albeit, lower profile) losses against "important" competitors. The next time you have a chance to prove yourself it can be difficult to focus on what you need to do rather than what you need to not do wrong.

As is true in every August, I'm ready to see our Buckeyes start pulling together again and I look forward to the potential that these exceptional athletes posess.

Go Bucks!

Dont give me that "swagger" B.S. After USC the swagger could become a stagger. You guys go out and earn your damned swagger. You got the easy part done....the jaw-jackin, hoss. Now go prove it.

I'd like to see some coaches held to the fire. I understand the old mantra "players, play" but our coaches have to do their part and if they canít they need to go. Look at Alabama. Saban has that looking like a straight up contender already and they did shock everyone w/ their success last year. The flopped in the Bowl game but he will have them ready this year.
I just pray our coaches can do the same cause 12SEP09 will be scary if not.

This is basically the same Blah, Blah, Blah. No one, absolutely no one is going to buy into this until they see the big "W" on September 12th. IF OSU wins that day everybody will forget about the Florida and LSU losses. I don't care what they say about USC loosing a good crop to the NFL. USC doesn't rebuild, they reload with a new list of Blue Chippers. Beat USC and everything will take care of itself. LETS GO BUCKS!!!!!

Ohio State has never suffered from a lack of talent, what we have suffered from is ineptitude at the coaching position. I'm NOT blasting Tress, or calling for his head, I want no other coach other than JT at the helm for the bucks.

But Tress can't forget those losses, the taste it left in his mouth, or the tarnishing it has done to his reputation. If he had beaten Florida and/or LSU he would be hailed as the greatest coach in the game today.

So hopefully, Tress will take the training wheels off for the USC game and trust the offense to take a few chances. Ultimately, we can't play any worse than we did last year. Tressel's conservative approach works wonders when OSU is the more talented team, but when we are on the field with an equally as talented opponent, he has been out coached by Pete Carrol and Les Miles. Remember OK State in the Alamo Bowl..a Les Miles coached team? that had but half the talent of OSU, we ran them out of the stadium. Then LSU a few seasons later?...We didn't get blown out, but I believe Miles got the better of Tress.

untill ohio state addresses the pouruse (offensive) line,we are going to be disscusing what ifs from now till the end of tressels era ,even a armchair quarterback can see that, why cant the coaching staff,I believe tressel doesent want to let jim bollman go ,but untill something changes we (buckeye fans) are going to be grinding are teeth during and after the season

Ken,

Like T.P. said, moral victories mean nothing. Almost beating the team who almost made it to the national title game means nothing. Tressel's comment about 'not being able to feature what they do best b/c you're not really sure what they do best' is classic. What he means is that the offense is going to be like it has been every year he has been here except for 2006, which is boring, predictable, and archaic. This guy calling a screen pass is considered innovative. I'll tell you how this year is going to go. Exactly like last year. The USC game will be a little closer, USC 31 OSU 13. The Bucks will lose again to PSU and earn a share of the Big Ten title. The Bucks will beat another bad UM team, get a BCS bowl bid in which Tressel and his staff will get outcoached, again, and lose. Mark it down.

If the Buckeyes go 8 - 4 it would have to be considered an over achievement. Too many questions without answers until the games are played,

My question to the coaching situation is "Who is the best coach from Ohio in the NCAA?" Meyer, Miles, Stoops, Pellini and on and on!

Our fans crack me up. You're all drinking the ESPN, Mark May Kool Ade. Ohio State teams have underachieved in bowl games since 2006. Since Tressel took over in 2001, we've only won 5 shared or outright Big Ten Titles. We won a National Championship and made it to two others. We have gone to a BCS bowl game all but two years. He is 4-4 with a 1-1 record in non BCS bowls and 3-3 in BCS bowls.

I have a theory that ESPN has been bashing Ohio State and the rest of the Big Ten since the conference started their own network. Oklahoma has done as bad, if not worse than Ohio State in bowl games in recent years and I don't see the bashing of them.

Now, not only is there bashing from people who hate O-State, but our own fans have turned against our team.

Have a little faith. Tressel has proved that he can get his teams in position to be title contenders and win a title. Now let the young guns and the few veterans we have show what they can do before you start saying, "Here we go again."

Thanks for pointing out that while fast and flashy linemen come from the fair weather south. True football knowledge comes from a tougher foul weather North.

The swagger you must be thinking of is the scent "Old Spice" put out....this is a NEW team, with a DIFFERENT outlook on what goals they WILL accomplish....USC, dont even get me started, how bout this for the condoms....play some real teams with some real talent, other than the Rose Bowl, oh I mean the extra home game you get....SEC, how you forget how nameless you clowns were only 5 years ago....remember it all goes in cycles, you'll find out when Texas beats up on ya this year....Tebow only came back because his missionary keister wont make in the NFL(yeah that's directed at all you Gaytor fans)....Go Bucks!!!! From a diehard Buckeye fan in The Land of The Morning Calm....go look that up on your map SEC....

And i totally agree...The Coaches should be held accountable...Tressel NEEDS to be FIRED for LOSING BIG GAMES the same way COOPER was fired for losing to MICH...BUT I GUESS BEATING MICH is more important than National Titles.... Typical buckeyes settling for 2nd...
I guarantee if any coach from the SEC...SABAN, NUTT, Reich (however it is spelt), MEYER (wow an OH guy), Miles....they will win a National Championship....
Tressel won with cooper players nothing else since then....
he is not a motivator...being a christian is good (like Tebow) but Tressel lacks Fire...His Mr. Rodgers AKA sweater vest out fit is not cutting it no more....He does not have to curse and shout like other coaches but he lacks Fire....Players go to OSU bc of their academics and a chance to play on the National stage....if they get are not motivated and continue to lose what else should be done.....>>>Start at the top get rid of the coaches....
Like i said before USC is in the same boat as OSU...NEW QB per se...and filling alot of holes on both OFF and DEF...But i have a bad Feeling that those OSU Players will GET RAPE...and GET RAPE REAL BAD...Its going to be bad especially if they keep that Anemic offense.
Get a clue!!! Tressel fired!?!?! you need to do some research before posting some ignorant ass comments fella...rape??? learn how to spell...get rape real bad?? c'mon fella, do us all a favor and graduate elementary english

Let's face it until bowl games are played in all climates warm weathered teams obviously have the advantage. Give me Wisconsin versus Usc up in Wisconsn in late Novemberearl December and I bet their power running game will devastate the Usc defense. College football is completely tipped in the favor of some and not others, just ask Utah!

To all the Tressel bashers, When you get a win loss record better than coach tressel then you can say all you want, but till then either support them or watch someone else play. The people that hate on the bucks sure seem to pay a lot of attention to their record of wins and losses. If you don't like them then use that feature on the remote to switch the channel. I believe if you coached on the D II level you would find out just how tough it is to win. There seems to be hundreds of couch-coach's out there. If you all are that great then you should be applying for some of the coaching jobs out there.
