Stuffing the run | The Columbus Dispatch

Full story: Columbus Dispatch

The Buckeyes' run defense isn't all about the defensive line. Talented running back Evan Royster of Penn State found that out when confronted by linebacker Austin Spitler, left, and safety Kurt Coleman.

"Either way Gary, welcome to the Buckeye network. We appreciate both the fans and the haters. A program is truly arrived something special when they have a legion of haters... "

You got that right. FL recent success is nothing compared to What OSU has done since the days of Chic Harley. Maybe one day they will reach our level of titles and heismans. My question is do real gator fans even claim Gary as one of theirs?

Dear BuckeyZman: I am not trying to ruin your joy! I am just pointing out reality. The Buckeyes do look good when they play "WEAK 11" competition but when they play out of conference good teams (such as Florida, USC and Texas) they lose. All OSU has to do is start beating Top 10 Teams (Iowa does not count) and then myself and other NCAA Football Fans will stop laughing at your Buckeye Team and accuse them of being over-rated. All you have to do is win, but that will not happen until you get better coaching and better faster, more athletic players. Buckeye Fan just does not want to accept reality. GO GATORS!!!

I am a Buckeyes fan, not a Florida fan, but Florida, I suspect, will be more than a "solid but unremarkable team" after Tebow leaves. The Gators are loaded. I am hoping several of their juniors go to the NFL next spring. If they don't, Florida will be as talented as anybody. Urban Meyer probably will be inspired by the challenge of showing that Florida can win without Tebow. Look what Urban did with Chris Leak. Tebow and Florida certainly are a great combinations -- but Florida will remain formidable.

Go crawl back into the swamp or get help.

Some one who can only offer criticism to every thing said most certainly has a major problem.
You need help to get all that poison out of your system.
I wish you my best, no one should be as miserable

Hey Gator ffan. We may have our problems in the Big Ten, but at least we do not have the football officials bending over backwards with calls against the oppents of Alamba and Flordia just so those two teams will meet undefeated in Atlanta to guarntee one of them a spot in the BSC Championship game against Texas. Ask the coaches in the SEC if this is true or not. Oh yes I forgot the SEC commissioner will fine or suspend the coach even if the official hands Alamba or Flordia the game on a silver platter. It has happened at least three times this year.
Sec officals have even been suspended and should have been I saw those games.

Gator Gary - OSU can't win them all. So sorry the Bucks have disappointed you and come up short in some recent games vs top 10 teams. Seems you are more of a fan of smack talking OSU football than being a Gator fan. Say what you want about Iowa not counting as a top 10 team. The rankings are what they are. What ever shall you do when Florida loses? Will you trash talk then? No you will probably just point out OSU's shortcomings to make yourself fell better.

OSU PRIDE, Yes, OSU PLayers should take a lot of pride in winning the "WEAK 11". They should also take a lot of pride in being the DOORMAT for BCS BOWL TEAMS. Finally, they should take the most pride in being the most over-ranked football team in the NCAA. OSU will beat Iowa and Michigan easily,(probably be ranked 6), then on to the ROSE BOWL to be the DOORMAT for a PAC-10 TEAM. Buckeye fan can sit up in Ohio and bask in the glory of another "WEAK 11" Championship and live in Fantasy Football Land that the Buckeyes could actually copmpete in the SEC but then reality occurs when OSU plays a BCS BOWL Game and their weeknesses of slow, unathletic players and average coaching exposes OSU for what they really are: Just an above average team in a weak conference. GO GATORS!!!
Hey gator, I hear that the sec is making it mandatory for all the member schools to offer bail bonding as a new major. Bail bonds is a very lucrative business in the sec these days.

Where is that guy that kept saying Terrelle Pryor is going to get knocked out by an Penn State linebacker? Can't remember if it was Gator Gary or some other fake Florida fan. OSU is going to take it to Iowa's 2nd string QB tomorrow.

The D is title-good, if Pryor and the O-line continue to progress, they'll be able to hang with anyone in the country, including Florida and Alabama who haven't exactly been impressive over the last several months. Take care f business against Iowa and Michigan and halt the BCS slump we've been in. Go Bucks!

Hey Gator Gary---I think you need to take a closer, factual look at the big picture before rushing to judgment. First of all, the Buckeyes,as you know, only lost in the last seconds to Texas last year, the team that most people feel should have been playing against Florida for the BCS championship. And I'm not so sure your Gators would have played Texas any better than Ohio State did.

As for overall BCS performances, you seem to fail to recgonize that the Buckeyes won 3 BCS bowls in a row in recent years, and 4 in a row overall, including a national championship against a team, Miami, that was riding one of the great winning streaks in college history.

As for your blasting the Buckeyes' supposed lack of speed, all I know is that Ohio State had 4 alums who were starting as wide receivers last year on NFL teams that qualified for the playoffs: Michael Jenkins, Anthony Gonzalez, Ted Ginn Jr., and, the player who won the Super Bowl MVP, Santonio Holmes.

While I am willing to concede that the SEC is stronger overall than the Big Ten right now, can any SEC team match this achievement? In fact, how many SEC teams can match the Buckeyes' overall number of first-round NFL picks in the last decade?

Finally, speaking of Ted Ginn Jr, be thankful that he got injured during the celebration of his opening kickoff TD against your Gators in the BCS title game. I'm not saying the Buckeyes would have won that night if he had played, but the complexion of the game would have been much different. And, if you don't think the absence of one star wide receiver can have such an impact on a football team, then you should look at what has happened to the NY Giants since Plaxico Burress was suspended from the team.

THE BIG PICURE!!! Is that OSU can't beat a Top 10 Non-Conference Opponent. PERIOD. Win your Bowl Games. Win against Top 10 Non-Conference opponents and then you will get National Respect and not be called the Most Over-Rated Doormat in College Football. The only people that respect OSU football are people that live in Ohio or graduated from OSU. To the rest of the country OSU is an Over-Rated Football Program that shows how Over-Rated they are everytime they play in a Top 10 National TV game and lose. All, you have to do is win your BCS Bowl Games and win against Top 10 Non-Conference Teams, but you know deep down that is not going to happen. OSU has developed a CHOKING MENTALITY. Just win your BCS BOWL GAMES and your Top 10 Non-Conference Games. It is just that simple! GO GATORS!!!

Mr. Buckeye in NYC... You get three gold stars for your brilliant observation... I have said that for almost 3 years!

Chris Leak is Florida's all-time leading passer. He played only 1 year for Urban Meyer. Let's not give the Urbster too much credit.
As for Hater Gary, he doesn't realize that the end is near. Florida won't win it this year. Every great team falls eventually. Only a fan with class knows that. He has no class.
As for SEC v. Big 10: The record in bowl games is 7-7 over the past five years. As for Florida, two losses to Big 10 in past five years (Iowa & Michigan), two wins (OSU & Iowa). If that's domination, then Gary Hater knows more than the rest of us. He doesn't. He's just a punk who would shut up very quickly if you ever met him in person.

I know this may sound cynical but if the Big Ten is as bad as many think, the run stopping stats of this year's defense don't count for much. Before passing judgement one way or the other I'd like to see this group stuff their bowl opponent.
