I'm glad that the Vikings are trying to add more depth at positions where they need it, so they don't have to address them in the draft. Defensive end and wide receiver? I'd like to see Trevor Laws slide to our 1st pick in the 3rd round, but I don't think that's going to happen. I think we'd have to take him in the second round. Fat Pat is getting old. It would be nice to have a backup and somebody to take his place when he goes. Sounds like there could be a decent receiver in the second round again. Merling or Harvey in the first round if they are still there? Lots of people are saying the qb from Kentucky - Woodson - will go to the Vikings in the second or third roun.

Meh, Pope's alright, I guess. Maybe he's another one these special teams specialists Childress keeping "finding" and then cutting later. I'll keep Farwell and whoever we draft for depth. I actually wish we had kept Dontarrious for depth.

I agree with KPB we need depth behind the Williams Boys, and my Lord where is the DE signing? I hope that all this Julius Peppers talk is for real, because another rookie at DE? Nah, OL techniques in the NFL are hard to crack for a rook. Even if we get Pepp (Bill Maas' favorite man-crush nickname), I'd still draft Harvey or Campbell at DE for more chances at the QB. Again, KPB, I agree, if he's there, take Woodson. Then WR, LB, DT, WR, WR, S - man(!) we need WR's. Go Purple!

Unfortunately you will never find a veteran QB in then draft and that is what we need and free agency has flown by. All this is for naught if TJ is bad, or if he goes down injured and there is no veteran to come in. They will not draft a high #1 QB because that would be a threat to TJ and an admission that they maybe goofed. They need to get a veteran QB from the cuts in the preseason and draft 2 1st round DE, (maybe the 10th time will be the charmer) or 1 DE and Peppers.

I seriously doubt that the vikings have any interest in acquiring Peppers. I think you will agree after considering these facts:

1) Peppers has never played for the Eagles.
2) Peppers was not drafted by the Dolphins during Rick Spielman's tenure in Miami.
3) Peppers is not a crappy ex-Bears wide receiver.

Are we supposed to get excited when the new signings (safety, fullback, linebacker) are no better (or worse) than the guys they let go? The NFC North is there for the taking and this team has done nothing to improve from last year.
Great comment from 40 for 30 - I hope that super homer 40 for 60 sees it.

Yes, but team chemistry is hard to measure; sometimes it just takes a small shake-up. Pope looks to be a good addition. Notice the good attitude shining through in what he had to say. I hope the Vikes pick up Hall at DE, as he seems just as good as those we targeted earlier in free agency. I just want to block my ears and hum when I read talk about trading away our number one pick. Think: how would that have worked out for us last year? No, get that good DE in free agency, the veteran QB's will fall out from their respective teams AFTER the draft, and Minnesota will be in the catbird seat on 27 April, free to take the best athlete available. GO VIKES!!! BEAT PACKERS!!! I've been waiting for two years; enough with the Packer dominance, already!! Good story, Don!

I like your post Mark. I am tired of reading all the BS from the likes of Fire childress and 40 - 30. The Vikings could go the the superbowl, loose a hard fought game by 3 points and they would say "see, I told yeah." If they won the superbowl they would call it a fluke and still call for childress' head.

Hey, I saw it, and it brings a tear to my eye to know you care so much.
Now, on to business. Super Homer, super anything coming from you, the crepehanger of the modern world, is taken as a compliment. If I were as downtrodden as you, I too might take it out on the Vikings and their real fan base. To wander through life as such a gloom merchant must take it's toll, and it shows in your ramblings. Maybe some day when the sun peaks out from behind that dark cloud that follows you around endlessly, you can find a spark of joy in this Viking state. For now I wish a grand season not for myself, but for you fussbudget, and all the others like you that can't find happiness even if it slapped you in the face. Carry on, ol wet blanket, and may the hackers recruit you while in your everlasting state of mourning.

Enter the real Dr. Kervorkian from Bemidji. I see you have moved on from the assissted suicides and are now concentrating your efforts on the Minnesota Vikings. You and 'fire childress' make a wonderful couple. Cut the wrong knee open again?

- FA wasn't exactly "star-studded" with QBs anyway. I rather tend to think that they're waiting for final cuts on teams rosters to do more heavy duty shopping. And that's not too bad of an idea, when you think about it. Right now, there's players that teams didn't want mixed in with the good stuff. After final cut, it'll be players that they wanted badly to keep, but in the end couldn't.

- What makes you think that those pu-$$-ies actually really live here? Notice on these posts that a Minnesotan posted from KC? Does that mean your state sucks? Unfortunately, Minny's a "tall" state, with The Twin Cities right in the skinniest part. Means we're too close to cheeseturd territory. Add to that, Chicago's not really very far away either. I talk fairly regularly with a couple Viking fans that live in Chicago. This crap happens on papers and web sites all over. Not just in Minny.

Sadly, there are hacker, un-bear-able, and kitty litter fans soiling this board, not to mention fire childress and the good doctor from Bermidji. There is absolutely nothing Childress can do to make these fatalistic schnooks happy. There is nothing we can do about the fans from other teams stirring the pot, but if they have the time to troll this board, then, maybe they are stuck to their toilet for the last two years as well.

Trying to translate from your post and I think your asking which teams have too many quality QB. That answer will have to wait till...
1) After the draft, when teams start cutting veteran QBs since they found the "answer" in that fore mentioned draft.
2) When teams start looking at their salary cap, then teams start to cut good veteran players that are due large roster bonuses.

I'm also not saying there will be any future HOF QBs out there, but in the end, every year there are good veteran QBs cut. This year will be no exception. One that can still make an impact for any team and a decent backup to T-Jack will become available.

I need to say that anyone that continues to think that Minnesota only needs a back up QB is not watching TJ close enough. I have never seen any QB in all the years I've been watching (30+) have less QB smarts than TJ. There is no reason for this individual to be receiving an NFL paycheck. The Vikings are on the verge of being the best team in the NFL (outside of San Diego) there is no more complete team. All the Vikings need is Chad Pennington.
