This doesn't sound like a bad deal at all. If a guy proves himself in his first 2 years, then he's eligible for a long term deal. If he shows to be a bust, then the team has the option to give him one more year or let him walk.

there will still be isssues no matter what, but there is no reason for an unproven player to get a ridiculously large contract.
