The trouble is no matter how much we complain, the McCaskeys will never do anything about Smith and his Lame Gang. Ted Phillips hired this bunch and it is his bunch of yes men. The firing has to start at the top. Fire Ted Phillips and then go down the line and hire new coaches and start over.
This current gaggle of goofs is worthless, they should not even be coaching 8th graders, let alone Pros in the NFL.

The McCaskeys should see if Ron Rivera would come back as Head Coach and let him pick his own staff. Unless ownership has soured him against coming back, with the way Smith handled the situation of
Defensive coordinator and hired Bumblebich in his place.

SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE NOW!!! Not their normal wait and see attitude!!

Has anyone ever seen Lovie Smith change expressions during a game? I get the feeling he's listening to the "Holiday Lite" in those headphones. Now I'm not one of those "Bring back Da Coach" fools, but Ditka was the epitome of a head coach. You screwed up, he got pissed off, grabbed you by the face mask, screamed in your face and sent someone in to replace you. He had the respect of everyone from ownership down to the kid that fetches the kicking tee. After a game like Sunday's, Lovie probably gets the team together, tells them it'll be all right and makes them all grilled cheese and soup. Nice guys finish last, remember?

The defense has grown considerably worse on Babich's watch. Its way past time for Babich to go.

Babich can get mad all he wants but that isn't going to change the fact that he just can't coach, nor can Lovie. They both should be fired befored the season ends. Maybe the season can be saved then.

Brian:

It's kind of disappointing to read:

"I don't think anyone gave up. If we gave up, I think I would be embarrassed, but I don't think anyone quit or didn't play hard."

I was sitting in my living room and I was embarrassed. I have friends I'll have to avoid because of this game.

Anyone notice how the Bears' defense has gone downhill after I left and how the Chargers' D has improved since I replaced Ted Cotrell?

Coincidence? I think not.

You suck, Babich.

They say that players mirror their coaches. Babich shows us why we have a tam of whiny children.

Yeah, Third and one just before the half. Bring out the "secret" Matt Forte draw play. What a joke! I'm not a coach but watching the game with my wife even I knew what was coming. I called all three plays in that series. Ron Turner, don't let the door hit you in the Butt on your way out.
Babich, your "cover two" scheme doesn't work and the players KNOW it. That's why there is no enthusiasm in the way the defense plays.
Why didn't Babich make adjustments at the half? Why didn't Turner make adjustments at the half?
I watched Forte try to run left at least five more times in the second half that CLEARLY wasn't working in the first half when Green Bay snuffed them. Sometimes I think Turner shows up with a five play game plan and when it doesn't work "Ho hum, we'll do better next week".
This team is CLEARLY out coached week after week. It's not looking good. Lovie, DO SOMETHING!

It's become a common occurance with the defense. When you don't get any pressure on the quarterback my grandmother could run pass patterns

The management of this team is laughable. Lovie has the "deer in the headlights" look the whole game. They made a huge mistake letting Rivera go. The team has no decent receivers and they aren't prepared. The defense runs out of gas after the 1st quarter. They are out of shape and soft. The coaching staff has to go, they should follow Benson to Cincinatti - they would all be happy there. The fans thre would be thrilled with an 8 and 8 team...

Vasher has not played with any intensity or skill as of late. Neither has Hester, Urlacher, Harris,...oh I can go on and on. They are enjoying their millions and have now taken up dead space on the field. The season is a bust. We may take the division, we may not, but we were EMBARASSED by the Packers!!! Just sad.

Coaches wanted to beat the Packers so bad, they put in an injured Orton, risking further injury instead of letting him fully recover.

Defense...non-existent.

Offense...non-existent.

Special Teams...well you get the pattern.

Back up the truck. This is not the team we thought they were. This is the kind of season that gets entire coaching staffs fired. The talent is on the field but it is being wasted. If the scheme is "good" but we're not executing then the players must not be prepared. Can the staff and the chalkboard too. If this were a financial company they'd have already received their government bailout.

The one thing that sticks out in this article is that Babich is a master of understatement, now if he could become a master at putting together a defensive game plan that his players can exacute. One that could stop the run an disrup the oppenet's passing game.

Coach Ditka's act got old in Chicago, but one thing for sure if there where starters underAchiving they would be sitting on the bench. That leaves onquestion to be asked; Why
is Roach starting?
