Let me be the first to say to all of you sports writers and other gloom and doom predicters, as well as Orton bashers, I told you that you couldn't predict by the preseason if the Bears would be bad or good. I am not saying that they'll be in the Big Game at the end of the season because they beat the Colts today, but they stepped up, and showed thy doubters that they can't be counted out this early.Kyle was composed and very good again, the defense played solid, and this Forte kid looks like he could be a real NFL running back! I am looking forward to next week! Great job ! Bears.

OMg!!! Give me a break, Orton sucks!! Yes he did what he's all about that is Chuck down Charlie! Did you see how awful he throws the deep ball??? He's only good throwing nearby to the receivers if ever. I still think REx is a lot better QB than Orton, and I for one can't wait till he's back at the No. 1 spot whenever that is. Don't get me wrong Orton is ok, not great.
Go Bears!!!!

...You'd be amazed how many games you can win in the NFL just by not turning the ball over. Somebody should tell Grossman that.

Hmm, he sure looked great, didn't he?

Could have easily turned the ball over three times, but gets lucky.

Turnover #1 is called back due to a 'false start.'

(by the way, I love how it's suddenly 'Olin's fault' when Orton is the QB, but it was ALWAYS Rex when the same thing happened to him. How's that work, Downy?)

Fumble #2 was the ball slapped out of his hands in the pocket.

And what about the SURE interception that was dropped? Did we forget about that?

Look, Orton played a solid game, but anyone who wants to say that his performance was so much better than what Rex would have provided should say 'luckier' instead of better.

The ball bounced his way three times tonight. Next time he might not be so lucky. I just find it odd that the same mistakes that would have had people calling for Rex's head are somehow 'ok' because Orton is making them.

He needs to improve for the wins to continue. Let's hope he does.

To Ratman - well said my friend.

To InDisbelief - Oh Lordy Lord. We hand hand the Dolts their collective tushies on a plate IN THEIR OWN HOUSE and there are still naysayers. What more do we have to do ? Shutout a Brady-led Patriots team ? Alas, not likely this year. Well done O, well done D, well done Lovie. Superbowl, baby. Go Bears

...You are exactly right my friend. People jump on Rex right away for his mistakes buy for Kyle, its like they worship him and pat him on the back and say its ok. Bunch of B.S. Kyle better get his skills sharper to win more games, lets hope for the best. Or better yet bring Rex back and see how well he does with our new O line. He still deserves a shot to start. Look what he showed in the last pre-season game win with that touch down to Rideau.

In 1984 the irsay family snuck out of Baltimore literally in the middle of the night, lured by a promise from the city of indianapolis to build them a NEW stadium.

18 years later jim irsay threatened to move the colts to L.A. at the end of the 2006 season if the city wouldn't build him ANOTHER new stadium. That means that if the city hadn't caved the colts would have opened the 2007 season in L.A. the year after winning their first Super Bowl.

"Ladies and gents, your WORLD CHAMPION LOS ANGELES COLTS!!! without ever having played a darn game there. Kinda makes you wanna just, well you know.

So last night was the inaugural game in 'Lucas Oil Stadium'- kinda makes your heart flutter, don't it?

And it is .....

UUGGGLLLEEEE!!!!

So, speaking for myself and all the other doddering old farts who fondly remember 'The Greatest Game Ever Played' and who believe that real men play football OUTSIDE let me doff my hat and say to DA BERRSS

thanks

Hey Mike, if you had any class at all, after you wrote "I predicted in the paper that he and the Bears wouldn't score a point." you would have written "I was wrong".

Kyle Orton did.....what?? Look more confident than we've seen in the past in passing for 150 yards? I hope we don't need him to actually win a game for us anytime soon.

The Colts are who we thought they were.

This is a good win, but don't get too excited. The Colts have lost more talent than the Bears. They are on the downward trend. Still coming out of the "scrum" with a win is nice to see.

I hope all these columnists and reporters can swim. These rats jump off the ship leading up to this game, then scratch and claw at each other to get back on. I`ll admit I was`nt overly optimistic about this game but if they ran the ball and played good D,I thought they had a chance and they did!
Way to go Bears, keep it up!!!!

DOWNEY'S DRIVEL...Be aware...Downey doesn't remember what he wrote a day ago. He writes about the Cubs having an August swoon and they win 7 in a row. This column is as exciting as the play-by-play account provided by Associated Press. When I see how this third-rate hack gets away with the garbage he prints...devoid of insight, lacking skill with words or images, I wonder whether even his editor can read this crappola three times a week.
I think of the damage he does to the art of sportswriting.
I get misty.
Drivelmeister, why not leave the Bears to David Haugh? He is five times the writer you are. Why not collect your columns and, instead of offering them in a book, toss em in the Chicago River which is already polluted.
Your column claiming to be a Bears fan, but sl;amming them before the season even began is typical Downey: wrong, vacuous, devoid of any redeeming quality. You are a barnacle on a rusty ship. Drop off!

Kyle Orton Show???? Nice headline loser. He made a couple of nice throws when he needed them; that's what an what an NFL QB is supposed to do.

Orton is good enough to go 8-8... yippee! BTW Downey, thanks for taking me through the game highlights again but that isn't what you are paid to do. Once again you offer nothing that a casual fan can't get for themselves. You have no talent!!! Please retire.

Rex Grossman more then likely would have placed himself over the team and made his usiual stupid mistakes and bad decisions and lost us that game last night. Then after it was done he'd say something like, I'll learn from this experience, I won't do that again, and then next game he'd do the same stupid things all over again. Kyle does not suck, so stop saying he does. I mean what is deal with you supossed Bears fans who are ripping on him after a big win like last night. He is a Chicago Bear!, he plays hard! he wants to win, and more times then not he gets the job done!Who cares if he has pictures on the internet drinking Jack, Beer , and partying! Hell alot of us Bears fans do the same thing! More Beer!! Get off his rear and get behind this team!,or take your constant bit__ing and your misery way of rooting for your favorite team elsewhere! Go Bears!

Give me a break. Orton may not have the great arm for the long ball, but he sure has a better field sense than Rex. I'm sure he won't make near the mistakes Rex makes.

You guys dumping on the columnist like he's a piece of excrement you just fished out of the Chicago Sanitary Canal want your cake and eat it, too. Orton did a good, methodical job as a QB running a methodical Bears'-type offensive with a solid running game, decent blocking on the line and picking and choosing among 7 (count 'em) 7 different receivers. He threw a bunch of dump off passes, a few for long gains and led the team to a legit stomping of one of the best teams in the NFL. Orton has matured a lot. Remember he led the Bears to more than a few victories om a row a couple of years ago. If he has a complete melt-down this season, I'll be the first to join the anti-Orton band wagon. Until then, I'll back Orton. There's a reason why Lovie finally chose him over Rex the "hexed" -- other than the fact that he's about a foot taller and actually looks like an NFL quarterback. Don't pine away for Grossman. He's still richer than all of us combined pacing the sidelines with a stiff upper lip like a spoiled little brat who's just been spanked.
