It has been almost 24 years since the Baltimore Colts loaded their gear into moving vans and made the midnight break for Indianapolis. Full Story

Time heals all wounds. I wish this city, and their really rude fans, would grow up and realize that. I guess it's okay that the old Browns just picked up and left Cleveland. Grow up people.

What you seem to conveniently forget is that when the Cleveland team was moved to Baltimore, the BROWNS NAME and HISTORY was appropriately left in Cleveland.....so Cleveland's NEW
team could return as the CLEVELAND BROWNS....continuing its proud HISTORY

If the COLTS NAME & HISTORY had been appropriately left in Baltimore, the Baltimore fans would have forgotten the team's move to Indianapolis 20 years ago.

By keeping the COLTS name, Baltimore fans are constantly reminded that Indianapolis robbed BALTIMORE of its NFL TEAM's NAME and HISTORY.

Thanks for writing this article. I grew up loving to hate the Pittsburgh Steelers as a Browns fan. I can relate to the Baltimore fan because my feelings when the Browns left Cleveland was ever so depressing as a fan. I did not watch Pro Footbal after that until I moved to Indianapolis eventually becoming a Colts fan. I ended up loving a team (Colts) that left for another city. That healing takes time. We may learn to forgive but we do not forget. I do miss Indianapolis "the best kept secret in the midwest."

Modell only left the Browns name and history behind because of a threatened lawsuit by Cleveland.
If Baltimore had only given the Colts the stadium it gave the team they took from Cleveland things might be different.
Their loss. Our gain.
It has to be hard for the Ravens players to be constantly reminded that they are second best to the fans of Baltimore who continue to remind them of it each time they play the Colts.
Which would probably explain the meltdown by the Ravens in the Pats game last week.

Is anyone aware of any binding committments by any NFL football team to Indianapolis? With the RCA dome to be torn down (and the taxpayers paying it off) and the new Lucas stadium already too small (and the taxpayers paying for it) does anyone really think the team has a committment to Indianapolis or State of Indiana?

Did I mention the taxpayers paying for all this stuff? I'm taxed out-how about you?

Just get over it you crybabies. If you put as much effort into supporting your Ravens, as you do crying about the Colts leaving..... maybe a Super Bowl could be in the picture.

Well written Old Colts fan. As for a threatened law suit, why do you think the Colts left town right after midnight. It hurt, but I stayed with the shoe. Where it goes I go. Oh yes, Indy, don't forget the L.A threat

I'm quite sure that Jimmy Irsay had no say so in the move... he was very young at the time and his dad was the owner anyway.

The Colts players were CHILDREN when this all happened.

In summation GET OVER IT!!!

Little bit of a difference between what happened with the Baltimore Colts sneaking out of town in the middle of the night and Art Modell doing it in full view - you guys stole our colors, our horseshoes, our name, our records, and history. Modell let Cleveland keep all of the above. Your team should be named the Indianapolis Carburators. Besides that, for 15 years before you got Manning you hardly sold out for your home games. Stick to high school basketball.

That's really a pity. Go ahead and feel the hate. I choose not to. If you want to justify it because Art left the history, that's your business. Throwing beer at and flipping the bird to families that show up to a game is pitiful. As I understand things, the Maryland legislature was trying to pass something through that would have prevented the move in a late night session, so the vans were called. Robbery? Sad fact of sports is, the Colts were never yours in the first place. Nor are they ours. The Colts, Browns, the Ravens, Titans, Raiders, etc.. could be playing somewhere else down the road. The Packers will always belong to Green Bay though. Now, if you could only get tickets. Grow up and enjoy your team, Baltimore.
