Chris Simms made more money with the Bucs than he would every have rec'd elsewhere. Consider it luck and blood lines. Chris Simms never has had the mental or leadership ability to play QB against great players. We saw it at Texas and with Bucs. He should move on in life and do something that he loves. He's never looked like a kid who loved the game. Gruden made a mistake on SImms is all that Buc fans should know. Simms' feelings are immaterial.

How did the Bucs not do right by Simms when he received an extension from the Bucs while injured. His extension was in the same area as Garcias deal 2years 7.5 mil. I really don't see where Simms was wronged, Gruden probably made him all throw ugly passes and batted down balls. Please stop blaming the Gruden and Allen regime for Mckays mishaps.

Chris Simms has never won a big game in his life. He was given the opportunity to be the man for this team, and did squat with it. So the Bucs went in another direction at QB. And still, the franchise gave him an extension. I don't think the Bucs are doing poorly by Chris Simms. I think Simms is a victim of his own inability, which has resulted in the Bucs having zero confidence in him.

I have no sympathy for millionaire athletes, especially athletes that make their money while contributing almost nothing to their teams in return.

Simms is by far the best QB on this team if he's 100% H E A L T H Y hands down!!! How soon we all forget Simms won 5 divisional games including 3 on the road to get us into the playoffs in 2005 as a first time starter. He was still learning and showed great promise for a young QB. Facts speak for themselves, in the 13 games Chris played in 2004-2005, when sacked 2 or less times his record is 7-0, when sacked 2 or more times he's 0-6, and that's a fact!!! He has proven when protected he's unbeatable, beside Gruden hasn't even given him a chance behind the Shot Gun Formation where I believe Chris would flourish, maybe if he had given him that chance we wouldn't be having this conversation. Put Garcia back in there where he threw 5-6 passes last year where Joey had to come back to the ball, what a joke. Safeties and CB let our WR go after 40 yards because they knew Garcia couldn't reach them. On the other hand Simms can hit a WR 60+ yards downfield in stride and that's a fact!!

Simms is not unbeatable. Not even close. He has generally tended to disappear in big games or when high expectations and all eyes were placed on him. He went 0-3 against Oklahoma while at Texas. He lost the only chance at the Big 12 title against Colorago. With all eyes on him at the beginning of 2006, he played relatively poorly for no real obvious reason. Little had changed in the line from 2005-2006, he got sacked at about the same rate in both years.

While good pass protection certainly helps a quarterback produce, so does a decent amount of mobility. Garcia gets sacked noticeably less than Simms because he can run, not just because he has a better line. I think Simms may have gotten a bit of a bum rap, I certainly think he deserves a chance to try and go elsewhere. But the fact remains that he had a chance to be the guy and he wasted it.

I appreciate everyone feeling bad for Simms' situation. I really do. Contrary to what a lot of you writers are suggesting, this is not about Coach Gruden "sticking it to" anyone. This is not about Tampa "doing the right thing." This whole thing is about management getting what it can for a player who has some value. Sure...we could just cut Simms and let him move on. We could do that...and we might. But we're not going to do anything until we're sure whether or not we can get anything for him. Releasing him is the equivalent of parking your car on the side of the road and leaving the keys in the ignition. You do that, if you have to, but not before you try to sell it.
Until we're sure we can't get anything for him...he's not going anywhere. And, in case anyone doesn't get it...that's the "right thing to do."

Josh Johnson is going to be a great QB of the Bucs future he can run a 4.5 and he can throw the ball great he has a deep ball and now he will have players who besides galloway can run down the field and go up and get the ball out of the are in dexter my favorite jackson he will be galloways replacement he will look just like galloway besides one thing he is faster wow look the reciving corps is going to be great this year with 3 burners and 3 go getters the burners are galloway, dexter jackson, and antonio bryant the go getters are Maruice Stovall who is 6'5 Mike Clayton 6'4 and newly signed undrafted free agent Amari Jackson also 6'5 dont forget about our best possesion receiver in Ike Hillard who seems to be out 3rd down catcher who turns the drive into 1st downs great recivers this year i think we have one of the best group of recivers in the whole leauge watch out all you doubters

Come on guys lets get real. Scrambling QB are not SB material. Brady, both Manning brothers, McNabb, Hasselbeck, Brees, Rivers,Roethlisberger.... are pocket passers. They all have good OL to protect them and use the shot gun formation. Chris Simms never had that when he played on the Buc's. Again, he went 7-0 when protected and 0-6 when not. This kid is a 10+ game winner a year for the next 8-10 years. Not Garcia, Griese or McCown. It's going to be uglt if Garcia goes down and we have to deppend on Griese who has played on better teams with better weapons to throw at and still couldn't get the job done. Chris simms is still an unproven young QB who will win a SB on another team just like the rest of the QB we let go.

I believe it is rime for Gruden to let Simms go. Simms is not the kind of Mobile qb that Gruden needs for his system. Let him go to Chicago or Kansas City where they need a qb because Johnson is our QB of the future and Simms will just be a problem once the season starts.

I'm looking forward to seeing the kid play again now that he says he's 100% healthy. Preferably with a coach who will actually take the time to develop his talent and put him into a system where he can thrive. Personally, I wish they would trade him or release him sooner than later. The suspense is killing me. I'm rooting for him to prove all you naysayers wrong. You're the ones who called SB MVP Eli Manning a bust a few months ago, right? NY gave Eli 4 years to graduate to the big leagues. Gruden gave Simms 5 minutes of his time, if that.

The Bucs have paid Simms $5 million since his injury. They deserve the right to try and get something for him.

Gruden never wanted Simms in the 1st place. The day will come when a quarterback moons Gruden or farts in his face for being such a horses's a$$ with QB's.

You are absolutely right, Frank. Simms has now spoken out about his treatment by Gruden and how, indeed, there were trade offers made for him that came to nothing with Johnson picked it the 5th round. You can read it at:
