True assessment of the situation. Not only can we surpass the last dismal seasons we can surpass by doubling the wins of last year.If everyone can stay healthy, the rookies play to their potential,we have a new sheriff in town with Seymore. We haven't been able to stop the run since Gruden left. Life will be different when we stop the run. We have shut down corners. Our running game will keep our D off the field in return will win games.

Agreed. This is a tricky year for the Raiders...It could go either really well or horrible...depending on execution. I think we have solid tools...and if Seymour comes in...we should do better at stopping the run. any improvement there is a huge plus. could be the difference of keeping us in games or not....I think Russell is ready for a breakout season....and again if the D steps up its play...all the better.

The Raiders have only one chance at a season.
Win against the Chargers on opening night or the season is over.
The Coaches know this, Crazy Al knows this, and some of Raider Nation know it to be true.
Seymour knows this and he will exact a hefty price on Crazy Al's pocket book. He is the one element that can trip the scale in the raiders favor. This is only if the rest of the team shows up.

In all fairness to the Raiders staff, I can't see them winning more than 4 games this 2009 season. Should the Raiders make the playoffs based on a winning record and so go on to win Superbowl XLIV, that accomplishment will be seen as sheer luck given their track record of INCONSISTENCY!!! I would have the same opinion if the Raiders win 5 games this season!

Once again proving you are an idiot. Only an uneducated ill-informed baffoon would think the first game of the season decides the out come of your season. I understand the whole setting the tone concept but it certainly doesn't decide the season. What will make the difference is how they react to W's and L's....you will know about halfway through the season how good they are....I believe the Raiders will beat the chargers Monday...but That doesn't mean they are all of the sudden a great team...again you half to wait to the halfway point for any kind of judgements. If the Raiders lose Monday but win the next 3 or 4 then what? or vice versa if the Raiders win Monday night and then lose 3 or 4 in a row...then what? by your insane rants....if they lose they are done...but they could easily bounce back...by your same logic if they win they all of the sudden have a good season? you truly are an idiot....I am not trying to be funny or sarcastic....but your ridiculous rants prove you are an idiot.

Luck can only take you so far on the field playing man to man...I know we have work to do...that's no secret. But if the Raiders by some miracle make the playoffs this year...with there schedule...luck won't be the driving force. They have a tough schedule...you can't get luck like that every game....I expect the Raiders to be 8-8 if they struggle...7-9 or 6-10...if all goes well 9-7...They showed they were getting it together the last couple games last season....that wasn't by accident or luck...Ask Gruden....he was impressed with Coach Cables game plan ...he knocked them out of the play offs....that wasn't luck. I concede we have a lot of work to do no doubt...but to say we would be lucky to win 5 games....that's just ignorant.

I believe that the Raiders are still another year away from becoming a playoff team...until JaMarcus Russell puts in a full 16 game schedule, the Raiders success won't be fully recognized.

I would be surprised if they make the playoffs this year as well....I think they are a year from playoffs and 2 to 3 from a SB...providing things move in the direction I think they are heading. The killer is the tough schedule we have...not complaining..it is what it is...but if we can do a .500 season this year....we are heading in the right direction.

I myself am looking forward to seeing how Eli and his receiving core works out without Plaxico this season. How much will the Giants be impacted by them not having a no#1 WR.

It seems that every year, the Giants suffer a key injury at linebacker position where one seems to learn on the job - just means that the offense has to pick up the slack ever more so, by (one) reducing turnovers and (two) capitalizing on opposing team turnovers by scoring touchdowns as many as possible.

Let me put this as simply as possible for your infantile brain. Raiders lose season opener they have a losing season. Lose Mondays opening game is a surety of a losing season for the Raiders.
