Bears' defense short key piece if Harris can't go

Full story: ChicagoSports.com

While the Bears made a trade Tuesday to shore up depth on their injury-depleted offensive line, they hope there isn't a bigger health concern they will have to address on the other side of the ball.

oh great, the news just gets better and better now doesn't it. if it could turn into something long term...for christ sake, don't let the man suit up. considering the way management has lollygagged through our weakest positions this offseason...its pretty clear they're looking to the future and not the season ahead. so don't risk a long term problem just for one game. especially since its a knee issue with a man who weighs a ton and his game is built on his quickness and ability to jump off the ball quicker than some of the offensive lineman

Why can't the Bears organization just be upfront and honest about injuries. If Harris is hurt and can't play this year, say so you wimps. Are they so afraid of the Chicago media? Tommy Harris will never be the player he was before he got hurt and the Bears "wasted" $40M on him as a player (not a person because I think the world of him as a person). In fact, many of the recent players they signed to big-bucks,long-term contracts will turn out to be a "waste". It is obvious from watching pre-season that Nathan Vasher has lost one, maybe two steps since last year's leg injury. Alex Brown is a decent player but not enough of an emerging star to sign him to big bucks. Ogunleye has been over-rated since he set foot in the door and has no clue on how to play the run. Urlacher was great but shows signs of aging and slowing down. Lance Briggs got his big payoff and doesn't look like the hungry player he was a few years ago. Jason McKie is the slowest, worst starting fullback in the league. Need I go on? Rewarding your own players is great but this organization has done nothing lately to move forward. Other teams that have won in the recent past have been able to keep that edge by bringing in young, hungry players to fill the void of good but aging players. It is going to be a long, long year for the Navy and Orange fans.

I am finding it hard to believe that this organization is that inept! Could this all just be a smoke screen to take the attention off, and come kicking ass? I can dream can't I?

Come on Bears. Do me a favor, as one of the few optimistic fans for this season, please do not hide and then pop up with any more injury reports. And then try to play the sincere and dumb role. Haven't you learned from the Williams case? I'm going to keep my blind faith and hope that he plays. We're definitely going to need him no matter how overrated some of you thinks he is.

The Bears dis-organization is more like it. Folks in Chicago have to realize what kind of fools make up this franchise. I don't know who the bigger fool is though. Me for being a fan, or the clowns that run the show.

These morons have put the entire season and the short future in jeopardy with their lack of foresight, extreme stubborness, constant lies, nefarious deception and apathy/denial towards fan intelligence. As if it takes a PHD to be a coach, GM, reporter or player. Please. If only these morons knew how to perform at a real job. If only they knew what kind of standards you have to set to keep your job in the real world.

The media is not the fearsome bunch. They are a bunch of coddling, scardy cats. They are the conduit for Chicago sports stupidity. And they force excuses down the throats of fans. The media is always way too nice to these jokers and this joke of franchise. No one puts Lovie, Angelo, Rex, Babich, and Turner to the grill enough. At least not enough to suit me.

I won't be happy until I see all BS run out of Chicago. This is far too great a sports town and historic city to have to deal with such sniveling, lying wimps. I thought this was the Black and Blue city? I thought this was THE blue collar city (along with maybe Pittsburgh).

Do we have a hard-working, blue-collar, appreciative organization and team? Heck no. We have a bunch of soft prima-donnas who do nothing but put themselves and their laziness, gluttony, selfishness and myopia ahead of anything that the real fans of Chicago want.

Just win, fools. And if you don't, you get no sympathy.

With the Harris news, they are already creating alibis for an upcoming dismal season, so they can blame on the usual "injuries" that our Chicago sports teams oh so quickly use as a crutch when they collapse.

LMAO!!! That would be interesting. He would make it more fun to be a fan. And we would never have to complain about never getting the "big named" players. LOL Keep dreaming tho. It doesn't hurt to dream.

Tommie Harris is breaking down. He has battled knee and leg injuries every season and for a player whose game is based on speed, this is troubling. Good thing they drafted Harrison. They need to draft bigger guys who can take the pounding of playing DT. I like Harris when healthy, but he hasn't been healthy in a long time. This contract could come back and bite them on the butt.

Chicago has enough of a fanbase 2 purchase the Bears ala the Greenbay Packers. I say that we should organized and purchase the Bears. I'm really tired of how this organization is operating.

Harris at 75% is still the only Bears D Lineman that requires a double team and that is important. Harris does take alot of cheap shots especially around the knees so this is something that will continue throughout his career. They are going to have to rotate him more so we will need more big plays out of Marcus Harrison, and Idonije. This also means Dvoracek has to stay healthy this season as well. The key to this defense is the line! The Bears should be fine!!

I feel like Tommie Harris has only been healthy for a couple of games his whole career. Sure he still plays while injured but when he does not perform, it is always blamed on the fact that he is injured and not 100 percent. I feel like his is never 100 percent and always gets a free pass if he doesn't play well.

No chance Harris does not play in this game. This guy is a warrior and people are acting like this is something new. Everyone knows he had his knee scoped in the offseason and they are just giving him rest for when it matters most. Kevin, how can you say he doesn't perform while he's injured. Last year he had his career high in sacks playing on one leg. Tommie is the man!
