According to the article..........the Cincinnati Bengals traded running back Corey Dillon to the New England Patriots in 2004 for a 2nd round pick (24th selection and 56th overall) in the NFL Draft. Cincy then used the draft pick to get Madieu Williams, defensive back out of Maryland. He played the position of free safety, getting 103 tackles in his rookie season. Though injured in his 2nd season, he went on to 9 interceptions, 4 quarterback sacks and 288 tackles with Cincy. He left the Bengals after 2007 when the Minnesota Vikings offered him a 6-year contract worth $33 million dollars.

It should be pointed out that..........the award is the "NFL's Man of the Year" honor. The award pays notice to a player's playing abilities and talents but also focuses on community service. He is the 2nd Viking to ever receive the award. Williams will be given $20,000 to give to the charity of his choice. He was unable to be on hand to accept the award personally as he was visiting U.S. troops in the Persian Gulf. He is involved with the United Way, Harvest Prep/Seed Academy, the North Community YMCA, and gives season tickets to children in his "Dieu's Crew" program.
