He had a good work ethic and a lot of heart but he got beat so many times in his starting position. He just doesn't have the make-up speed when he gets burned on a route. Best wishes to his future though.

Great move by the Raiders! This Bum was always getting burned and running with the Running Back going into the Touchdown. This guy needs to land a job in Tampa Bay or Atlanta. I hope K.C. OR DENVER pick him up so the RAIDERS RBs can have the same success he gave the other team. Good Luck Schweingut.

I agree that Stu got beat a lot. BUT...he did know how to tackle, and that saved a number of touchdowns. I think guys that are remaining need to stick receiver at the line a lot more to throw the timing off.

Good Luck Stu!

He racked up over 100 tackles in 2006 and really played his heart out. In 2007 I don't think it was so much him, but more the guys up front getting beat and putting more pressure on him and that made him look bad plus he was mentally insecure about his job. Hiram Eugene needs to go too; he didn't do any better when he got the starting job from Stu.

No room for sentiment in this game huh !?!?.. I really hoped Stu would become a force back there, but he never quite did.
To be fair he kinda was another victim of the 'cant stop the run' debalce of the last couple of years

Branch is going to make the roster for sure, he's way too versatile (special teams / DB / either Safety ) and has great size & speed amd is an animal of a tackler.
He used to take the defensive plays in from the sideline for UConn so he's a leader type too.

In theory, Branch could replace 2 players from last years roster ( Carr & Eugene ) and Wilson is a strait swap for Schwiegert, so its not a major surprise for me.

Ya, i think Gibril is a far better safety than Stuart Schweigert. Stuart was OK, he did play with alot of heart but that can only get u so far. He prolly will make it onto another team, just not as a starter.

The Raiders just flat out suck. It doesn't matter who they place at safety because they're going to suck no matter what. If they get shut down corners and great safeties, teams will just pound the ball down their throats. If they get a good line and linebackers, teams will just rack up passing yards on them. If they get a great quarterback, teams will blitz him and he'll be on his back all the time. The Raiders suck and that'll never change. Al Davis is a complete dumbass. He thinks he is smart because he is different and gets cast-offs and rejects. His cast-offs suck. Thats why they are cast-offs. and why the crap is Tommy kelley or whatever the highest paid DT in the league? That was a dumb move. The Raiders draft McFadden when they already have a decent running game. Al just doesn't see the big picture. He is an idiot who should never have owned a football club. The Raiders should never have won a SuperBowl. Special circumstances have led to their superbowls. The 1976 SuperBowl, they had to beat Pittsburgh to get there and the Steelers were without Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier. If Pittsburgh had those guys for that AFC Championship, Oakland would not have made it to the SuperBowl. The 1980 SuperBowl, they needed an absolute miracle or just really dumbass throw and play-call to get them past the Cleveland Browns. Red Right 88 or whatever the play was. Cleveland was in position to kick a last second field goal to send Oakland packing but threw a pass and got intercepted in the end zone. That should've been the end for the Raiders. And in 1983, I'm just gonna say that that SuperBowl was fixed. Washington threw that game. If it were a real game, Washington would've scored 40+ points on them. So, when you think about it, Oakland has never been a legitimate champion. They cheated. They used stick-um, and played dirty. If they would've played by the rules and those special circumstances didn't happen, Oakland would have 0 SuperBowls.

Jim it sounds to me like you're just another hater. Apparently whoever was in place of Franco Harris and Rocky Beleir didn't get the job done. You play, win and lose as a team and it seems like Oakland got the job done. In 1980, it seems like they got the job done to advance to the superbowl when they needed it most. In 1983 I remember that one as the first I ever watched that made me a Raider fan and Marcus Allen severly ran all over a bunch of Washington Redskins that didn't bother showing up.

If any playoff game was fixed it would've been the snow game in 2001-02 season when the tuck rule call prevented the Raiders from advancing. I'm pretty sure 9-11 had everything to do with that.

WOW! You are pathetic...conspiracy theorist maybe? The cast offs Davis has gotten us in the past have led us to three SB's. You can play conspiracy games all day but it doesn't change the fact that we have won 3 SB's. Not to mention we have played the Steelers in two Monday Night Games and Oakland Won both...We also have a winning record of 9-8 against them...Let me guess...you think there was a conspiracy in all nine games? Get a grip man...sure we have been down the last couple years, but we will bounce back...we should have a .500 plus record this year and will continue to improve over the next couple years. Enjoy the Hate. I don't care enough about the Steelers either way to go on a steeler for and complain...so thanks for caring about the Raiders enough to make the effort!

I guess because they all thought he was our weakest link and now their afraid that they won't be able to get passed our secondary. No offense to Stu, but when a team sees that a player is not getting the job done and they find somebody that can do better and get him then that is when changes will be made. Plus after he let the media know he wasn't happy with the open competition situation last year, I had a feeling he was on his way out.

Speaking of that...Why would anyone in their right mind make a comment like that? Even if you don't like the open competition...you suck it up and be quiet...no good can come from te open competition remark.

Exactly...when coach says there is open competition at every position, that means if you want to play for this team you bust your @$$ and show them what you got. Kiffin even speciffically said when he was hired in "I am not basing anything off of last year. I don't know what they were told. Every position will be open competition. There is no depth chart today and there won't be one tommorrow." To me that means that it doesn't matter how good or bad you were; you've got to prove it to him while he is the coach. Plus Kiffin notices things like guys that care more about money than making the team and who is serious about earning their playing time. That is why I like players like Tom Howard, Kirk Morrison, Robert Gallery and Tommy Kelly. They never complain about anything, they just play their hearts out.

Reality check, Jim. In 1976, the Raiders beat the Steelers during the season with Franco and Rocky. The Raiders were the better team that year. In 1980, Cleveland did help with playcall. However, Cleveland's straight ahead kicker (Cockcroft?) missed everything up until that point in the game. Gutsy call by Sam, but it came up Craps. In 1984, that team was one of the most talented football teams ever rostered (and I am not referring to the Redskins). Tally the hall of famers. The Redskins were a very good team, but they were outplayed and outwitted on a very Silver & Black Sunday.

And Pittsbugh NEVER would have made it past Cincinnati a few years ago in the play offs if your DT didn't throw a dirty hit at Carson Palmer's knee! You can argue the circumstances all you want dude. But the facts remain. You actually seem pretty knowledgeable about the history here so dont take this as just another angry comment. But really, you gotta work on dealing with that anger. Oakland is getting younger and better. We are gonna be winning 10 games a season by next season at the latest. You might as well just prepare.
