Bears' luck runs out, but they find a way

Full story: Chicago Tribune

Bears fans were booing after the Packers' second touchdown Monday night, and it wasn't to keep their vocal cords from freezing like water pipes.

What's with the freaking pooch kick at the end of the game? It worked so well in Atlanta? Can you advance through the playoffs with missed and blocked field goals as your biggest weapon? Lovie, the worlds dumbest genius.
hahaha good one Marty. I AGREE- they keep trying to find a new way to shoot themselves in the foot! This is a team of GOOD players that continue to overcome mediocre coaching! WHEN will Ron Turner figure out trying to run Forte up the gut is not the right call??? Seems he finally clued-in late 4th quarter and in OT. This kid is star material. They need to use him like he is. Feature Forte - where's the screen pass, draw play, 5-yard underneath safety valve for Orton and let him create! Creativity is what the offense lacks and for that Turner and Lovie are to blame.

as someone else stated, this win just delays the inevitable. IF the team gets into the playoffs, they will be throughly trounced. we need WR's in the worst way, as well as consistent play on defense. fire Babich and turner, and hire real defensive and offensive coordinators. this is the most inconsistent offensive and defensive team I've seen in a long time.

This was the luck-iest win ever and a time which is made up of bigger losers than I thought. They were pathetic and no one can disagree and yet they won.
In my view they are a disgrace to Chicago and Illinois as are the coaches. Keep running Forte up the middle ??? for zero .... players cannot catch the ball... the QB has not a clue and throws the ball to the other team.
There luck is now up and gone ..... I was disgusted with what I saw ..

What an absolute disgrace of a team.

Rick- The Packers are a worse team than the Bears? Let's compare.
Best QB- Packers by a mile. Sorry, CT Bears fan, but Orton SUCKS. RB's- even. O-line- Packers. WR's- Packers by a mile. D-line- Packers when healthy. LB's- Slight edge Bears. CB's- Packers by a mile. Safties- Even. Only the Bears special teams are much better than the Packers, and who made it possible for the Bears to win the game again? Special teams.

Is it me or do our recievers drop at least 6-7 easy balls a game? You can't put that on Orton. Yes, Orton blew against Minnesota and had a few BAD throws last night, but if your recievers continually drop easy balls on you, it makes it monumentally difficult.
If we can somehow get in, let the chips fall where they may. Rememeber the Giants last year? Prior to their run, they were calling for Eli's and Coughlin's heads. Now they use their heads for busts that will go in the trophy room.

Actually the Defense was pretty spectacular last night. They did give up some big 3rd down plays, but held the Packers to 3 points off two Bears turnovers. THAT kept us in the game.

I was never sold on Orton anyway. It looks like we STILL need a real QB with, at least one if not two, real WR. At least we won, Go Bears!

Sorry Bob you really dont have much of an argument here. Only stat that matters is Packer 5-10, Da Bears 9-6 and still in the hunt for a playoff spot. That means the Packer are a worse team than the Bears. And all your woman are big and smell like cheese!

The answer to why the Bears won is very obvious. Special teams. One thing that has gone incredibly right during Lovie's reign is special teams play (let's ignore Hester's fall for a moment or the ridiculous pooch kickoff for argument's sake). The Bears must have the best in the league (Packer's the worst?), and dominating one aspect is enough to win. Their offense stinks, that's obvious, the defense can be mediocre to great, but special teams more often than the other 2 traditional parts wins the game. Not glamorous, but effective.

"Our women", Rose? I'm from Chicago and live in Colorado (although I'm posting this from Missouri). I'm just pointing out that comparing position to position, the Packers have better players than the Bears. That being said, the best team doesn't always win. As poorly as the Bears' D has played this year, their knack for forcing turnovers WHEN they need them is almost as scary as their special teams making a big play when needed.

we had good receivers,,we let them go,,musin muhamad,,berriann,etc..we had good quater back,we decided not to use him and use a QB who can only throw short passes. we wont get anywhere until we solve these problemsie,QB and wide receiver,,our defense also getting old,,but considering they are on the field all the time because our offense sucks, they are a darn group of guys

orton and hester need to get on the same page. that five yard pass did not need to be a bullet but hester still should've caught it. and even though the deep ball was underthrown, hester had both hands on the ball and should've held on.
they have weapons in the passing game but they need to be utilized more. and that starts with more passing on first down. right now, the bears are just too predictable on offense.
there is still hope for this season!

During the game Monday night, I kept thinking what would happen if they played a first half that bad against the Giants or Carolina... or Houston...

The Monday Night Crew has no clue because the D hasn't been doing it all year. Where they doing it against Tampa when Brian Griese had almost 400 yds passing? Where they doing it against the Titans when Kerry Collins had over 300 yds passing? The Bears have made bogus QB's look like Pro Bowlers this year.

I'm getting tired of our DB's playing 8 to 10yds off the receivers then giving up the 1st down.

Houston is going to test the D big time. Andre Johnson is licking his chops.

The Bears 3rd percentage against the opposition is terrible.

The Bears are full of worthless players and a coaching staff that is clueless. My dead grandma could call plays better on both offense and defense. Adrian Peterson is one stupid jackass! Get rid of him. Is Orton blind or just plain retarded?

I understand that the Bears have plenty of issues on both sides of the ball But with the level of talent they have on their roster, mustering potentially 10 wins in remarkable, The colts gave themselves a chance by making the playoffs and they won a handful of games unconventionally and unconvincingly. My point is this, a win is a win and a franchise is judged on only wins and nothing more.

My mistake, the bears are full of worthless players. However, they have some great ones (Briggs, Gold, T. Harris, Manning, the punter guy, and Olsen (at times). The coaching is the worst in the NFL - starting with Lovie. I see Bears players do the stupidest things week after week. The Tillman and Peterson pentalties, the pooch kickoff and lack downfield coverage against Atlanta. Never enough pressure on the quarterback - those fake blitzes are not fooling anyone. Running the same plays on offense that don't work time after time after time. I am so tired of yelling really bad words at the TV. This is the first year that I truly hate the coaches top to bottom. The Bears should be 12 and 3 right now. Lovey (his staff), Olsen's two dropped passes and Tillman's penalty killed the Bears in two games early in the season. Peterson tried to drive a stake into their heart (and mine) Monday night - you dumb worthless POS. Orton is blind. Davis can't catch a pass to save his life. Hester can't catch and runs backwards and sideways on punt returns. Please, please get rid of Lovey and his staff, find a quarterback, and some receivers with talent, get rid of Davis and Peterson, and kick Tllman in the nads just once real hard for the dumb penalty against the Bucks along with always allowing that big third and long conversion by playing 10 yards off his man.
