david- you are a very talented writer. on short notice, this is a well thought out and creative column.kudos to you. the bears are a long shot. but as president kennedy said(referring to the cold war) "never negotiate out of fear, but never fear to negotiate". jerry, get in the mix- guys like cutler do not grow on trees.

btw. denver dropped the ball. matt cassel draws a high second round market value. cutler will make that look like chump change. bad move by a rookie coach. patriots dont coddle players but he took this literally and looks foolish(yes, cutler is being petulent - but that is besides the point).

6 people to benefit from Cutler
6 reasons the Broncos would listen to the Bears
6 teams ahead of the Bears

Don't you guys see? 666!!!! It's the Beast.

OK really. Offer the Broncos the 18 pick and Orton and go from there. Remember the Herschel Walker deal. Yeah you're trading for a good player but what you give up might be better in the long run.

Besides, there is no guarentee Cutler will be any good on the Bears. Their offensive schemes are from the Stone Age and they have no receivers.

You forgot to throw tommie Harris in that equation and maybe Briggs if they wanted him over urlacher really no one on the team is untouchable if it comes down to it, but throwing in spare parts is just going to make the broncos hang the phone up.. If I'm the broncos I'm like who is Harrison graham Israel..you have to throw in either urlacher,Harris, tillman, vasher , or Briggs on defense..

ok a couple of thoughts here. cutler is 13-1 when his defense didnt give up over 21 points. i mean orton and grossman's win loss records were very good because of our dominant defense. and haugh, please not hester. urlacher or vasher fine, i know he had a down year, but dont take away the most electrifying player the bears have had since gale sayers. to further my point....XXYOUTUBE-8iHzdUVpUh0 XX&feature=related

Jerry
this will be worse than AIG if you do not get Cutler .... You better pack your bags and get out of town as no one will like you and you will always be know as that failure guy. Not a legacy I would want but I am just a fan. I pay your salary please earn it and become a decent human being and not like AIG scum. We trust in you Jerry Please give the people of Chicago pride and hope again ...we all know Orton is a backup nothing more.

What bothers me a lot is when I hear the bears may not have the assets to get a deal done.. Are you kidding me? We have at least 5 pro bowl players on defense and on offense we have the most dangerous player and game changing player In the league. Plus our we have plenty of draft picks. What can the jets bucs and redskins offer that we can't do? I look at our roster and it's more enticing then theirs no doubt

Are you kidding me? Throw in Briggs? You're an idiot. I'm not opposed to getting Cutler, but not at the expense of depleting the defense of quality players. Maybe Vasher, but not Urlacher. He's old, so what, he's a leader on the Bears. Thank God you're not running the team.

Nice article David. It all seems great and i have to admit i sat around all day dreaming about the bears getting a quarterback like cutler but the more i read and the more i think about it this is just another thing that will get my hopes up. as a bears fan i cant imagine going into a season not being worried about the QB situation. i will say that i dont think orton is a bad QB but i dont think hes a god like your friend rick. speaking of rick, do you guys sit around the water cooler making fun of that idiot or what?

It would be a great scenario if the browns could arrange a three way trade with either the Titans or the Browns. The two things Broncos desperately need, both the Titans and the Browns have. Those things: Depth at quarterback and the defensive line. Send Rogers and Quinn from the Browns to the Broncos and believe me, the broncs will bite. From the Titans, Vince Young and one of many talented D linemen make for a very attractive bargaining chip. The question on the Bears mind should be, "what amunition do we have that Cleveland and Tennessee desperately need?"

What do you got to lose Jerry Angelo? More then ever, the NFL has become a passing league, especially since the league protects quarterbacks and handcuffs cornerbacks with a manadatory 5 yard cushion. Sooner or later, we have to try to become more modern.
