Rich Gannon: Raiders need leadersip

Rich Gannon, the quarterback who led the Raiders through their last success before joining CBS as a broadcaster had a recent interview with KHTK .

Always the General!...Gotta love Gannon...He is right...one strong leader can transform a team...we are sorely lacking that. From what I hear Seymour is quiet....leads by example...which is good but we need a voacl leader as well....someone that can take us to the promise land.

Gannon is right, but where are they going to get it? On offense one usually looks to the QB, that's not gonna work here. I think all the fat, lazy rich kid cares about is the money. I have been an Al Davis fan since he came to Oakland (yeah I know that makes me older than dirt) but I have been losing faith over the last several years. Heck, I was wrong about Gannon, hopefully I'll be wrong about Russell but I don't think so. Gannon didn't have all the physical skills but he had intelligence, something Russell doesn't seem to have.

I hear what you are saying...but I think the jury is still out on Russell...this year will say a lot...as to where he is...if he gets lucky and get to .500 we need a new qb...if he plays smart ball and gets us to .500+ then we give him time...Last year was not a fair year to judge...most of the season...the WR's were dropping very catchable balls...thats not Russell's fault. The last few games the WR's were catching balls and we started winning....so I think we owe it to Russell to give him this year before claiming he is fat and lazy...I have never spoken with him nor have I been on the practice field with him so I don't know his habits...media blew the weight thing way out of proportion for the sole fact of creating a story...Coaches and players alike said he wasn't overweight like they reported. maybe the very first time he was....but since then he looks good.
