Everyday, we all see potential trouble from individuals and/or situations. Yet it seems that many officers on our police force are either oblivious to their surroundings or hesitant to act as a "peace officer" instead they wait for crimes to happen and then play the role of "law enforcement officer". I strongly suspect that this officer was trying to make a quota when this arrest occurred. The over-reaction in some instances and the no-reactions in others is difficult for most citizens to understand. There are way too many opportunities for COH police to be productive and fight real crime without hassling law abiding citizens trying to transit a disorderly environment. Our fine mayor, not the police chief, needs to address this police focus issue and worry less about the criminals operating his tow trucks or the lawless group from New Orleans we support with our taxes. One thing we could do is purchase some expensive "sit-on-our-butts" cameras to enforce our traffic signal laws. This will free up our police to seek and fight real criminal activity. Note, I have not been caught running a traffic signal.
