If it did, then the shock value and implied racism would be diminished. The number of blacks tasered is exactly proportional to the number of blacks involved in altercations with the law. Once again, the media is out to paint "Authority" as racist. The average black guy who may get pulled over by HPD, stands the same chance as getting tased as the average white guy, so long as average black guy keeps his mouth shut and does not escalate the situation with their S]-[|t talking and ghetto antics. When we white folks are pulllled over, for the most part, we don't talk alot of s}{|t to the cops, as we know they would love nothing more than to deploy the taser on us, white/black/brown/, ya go up against a cop, your gonna lose every time.

The race card has been played out, its been used so much that it has been diluted and means nothing anymore.

Obviously twice as many black suspects resisted arrest, hence the stat. If you are goin' to jail, why add the resisting charge and the taser? its the dumb criminals fault, white or black.

In every one of these tasings (sp?), the alternative is to shoot them, beat them with a club, or use mace.

In the course of my life, I have had the oppertunity to try all of the above.

I would much rather be tased than any other option.

If there are more black arrested, there are likely going to be more blacks tasered. A way to change this is to arrest more whites, or to make more whites put themselves in a position to be arrested?

Personally, I think tasering is a better option than getting shot...for isn't that the idea?

Again, it goes to who is in a position of looking like they are doing a crime...? And if you are thinking it is because of the white cops, I bet you are wrong...after a few months on the job, all cops see through the same eyes.

As the police age and retire, each new group of minorities cries the same thing...we are being picked on. And each time we the public have to go through this racist stuff...regardless of the change of guard, the excuses for crime remain the same.

9 out of 10 violent criminals in Houston is black. The africans should be thankful they got Tasered rather than shot dead. The Katrina refugees should have been left to drown rats.

Although I don't agree "totally" with "I am a Racist" I do get his point. I live in the Houston area! For those of you who don't let me tell you that the Katrina refugees are part of the problem with their "you are here to serve me" attitude. The illegals are a bigger problem with their "you owe me" attitude.

On the nightly news the vast majority of the crime in our metro area (I am guessing as much as 75%) is involved with these two groups.

They are teaching me to be a "racist" if it is racist to hate people who rape, murder and rob all the while crying foul if they get caught.

Being from Houston, I can back up what BigD is saying. Everyday in houston there are shootings, robberies, kick burglaries, etc, rarely are the perps white, they are mainly hispanic and black. Sucks for the law abiding hispanics and blacks, as they are cast in the same light as the ones among them that cause all the trouble. Luckily, we have folks like Joe Horn, and gun laws that enable us to fight back without fear of reprisals from law enforcement should someone be stupid enough to kick in our doors at night, or jack us while we're filling up at the pumps. So tase Away HPD! its not like the ones getting tased are pillars of our community. Side note, we even have a morning radio show here that has a "Shock the Monkey" report. Damn I love the South!!!
