Maroneys problems are a lot like Randys were in Oakland. Theyre not his fault for the most part. Maroney will be one of those guys who leaves his original team and erupts. Maroneys ability in the open field is breathe taking; the fans at the game (which I attended) almost didnt know how to react as he made men miss on both of his catches (1 was called back due holding away from the play, but still) because were so unused to seeing it. New England fans like the blue collar, Corey Dillon esque pounder. They dont know what to make of Maroney, whose has been an illusive, big play back. If he got the ball more ala the end of 2007 and 2006....we'd see more big plays and everybody would shut up.

As far as a feature back, the Pats just need to pick one. Taylor is very old but has shown he can do it. Morris has a very low cieling but can probably do it, though he never really has. Maroney has a very high ceiling and has shown for stretches he can do it.

The key is just picking one. Quote me on this, Laurence Maroney is always going to look bad if he used the way hes been used here. He is an obvious rythmic running back and has been since college; he either puts up a ton of yards in a hurry or will do nothing....just check his carry by carry in most of games....205 yards in 2nd half san diego...74 yards in 3rd q against jackson....104 yards in 1st hall vs. miami...those off the top of my head...so it isnt hard to see why he struggles where he gets a few random carries, here and there, the same way its not hard to see why that, down the stretch in 2007, when they fed him the ball...he exploded. Facts are facts. Maroney is beast when he used as a ball hog....but when hes used different aka the way hes used right now he sucks. Week against the bills, Maroney took his 2nd, 3rd, and 4th carries for a total of 35 yards, a 11.3 ypc. But for some reason, the Pats took him out and he never returned in the half.

They just need to PICK ONE and stay with him.

His kick offs are annoying. Its like hes a split personality. He is either doing a great Adrian Peterson impression in which he picks a direction and bolts with his violent running motion....or he is doing vintage Fred Taylor, side stepping with every stride he takes.
