What about the offensive line? where's the great protection for brett favre ? they say they want him back and he took a bad beaten in last game and they still won't draft a tackle or guard. GET REAL AND DRAFT SOME HELP UNLESS YOU'RE GOING TO GET SOME HELP FROM THE PACKERS. GO VIKINGS.

This is a good pick!

Check out CNNSI.com -- they have a nice chart that ranks every remaining player on the board, and where they were projected in the draft.

Everson Griffen was slated as a late 1st to 2nd round guy, fittin the 'best player available' tag.

There are interior offensive linemen who are rated 2nd and 3rd round values that haven't been taken yet:

C - Matt Tennant,(projected 2nd round)
G - Mitch Petrus,(proj. 2nd or 3rd round)

I like the way they've gone so far. They needed a CB, and Cook was the highest rated available when they took him. Gerhart will play from day one and contribute as Taylor's replacement. Griffen played from both sides of the line, so he provides insurance against Ray Edwards leaving in free agency next year, while also backing up Allen.

Great value pick at the start of the 4th...but not really the glaring need for the Vikings. OL would be nice. Ray Edwards and Jared Allen pretty much have the ends on lock-down.

I can't believe we went with this pick...why not a WR or OG? He's good but a position we have ZERO need for depth....a DT i'd understand (for depth behind Pat and Kevin) but DE...doesn't make any sense....

Minnesota's O-line had two first time starters in Sullivan and Loadholt with Hutch struck with a bad wing for much of the year. If Steve is healthy, another year under the belts of RT and C will help this line greatly. I think Herrera lacks in pass blocking, and McKinney is adequate at best.
I too would like to see some O-line help, but they may not be as bad as they showed late last year.

yeah another usc player, and A former top defensive coordinator in NFL Oh and also his coach! passed on him and everyone else on his team, nice draft, vikings, you picked 1 rb and passed on albert H, this team is done you want to see teams looking to win look at jets draft and new orleans, wilfs are either out of money or thinking about selling based on lack of new money maker, so like I said before run brett while you still have legs.

I agree. The team is solid except for the o-line and they aren't adressing that issue. Maybe they plan on signing some free agents?

When Griffen is motivated, he looks like Dwight Freeny, when he is not, more like Randy Moss.

And Ray Edwards is an unrestricted free agent one year down the road who will need to be replaced.

Good picks by the Vikes. O line needs help, but many O line draft picks don't pan out, past the top few. It's better to pick up a known quantity in free agency on OL.
Quarterback needs to be addresses sometime soon -- maybe next year.

Should have gone after Haynesworth. He's mean and mad at everyone on the offensive side. Just tell him before every game that the opposing team's QB stole his fries and thats all we need to win. Put some hurt on Breese and the Saints. As Gollum said "They stole the ring and we wantes it back"!

Looks like Griffen is NFL ready right now and also the Vikes got the best player on the board. Good pic! Skol get Tennant next round please.

It looks to me like the Vikes have put a lot of thought and work into this draft. I was scared to death that they were going to take a Tebow or McCoy or Clausen with a higher draft pick. Given how they have handled this draft, there must be an O line man in their sights that has gone lower than they thought. Of course if Farve decides not to come back the complexion of next year does change, but there are some decent prospect QBs left on the board.

The Vikings got as far as the Jets and barely lost to New Orleans in the conference championship game. So why don't you consider their formula successful? I would agree that the Vikings aren't exactly picking the fan favorites, but we all know the best time to evaluate your draft is 2 or 3 years down the road. Right now, we are a C+ on paper. That's how the NFL system of parity works. The better you play, the harder it is to acquire the top talent.

I'm curious; I would like to pull the 2006 scouting report on Ray Edwards and see how closely it matches Griffen's. Similarities? Worth a look.

Horrible picks. Fat, lazy Guard who was suspended for having the IQ of a turd and a Gopher that no one wanted.

Defense wins championships and the Vikings have a solid Defense. Madieu Williams will have to step his game up and Tyrell had better watch his back because Jamarca Sanford is a stud (big hitter). Hussain Abdullah is a great special teamer and deserves a long look at FS due to Williams inability to make a pick.

The Giants won their SB because they were very deep at DL and just ok at LB and DB. The Vikings have a much better Offense than the Giants had and can be special with a good RG and an upgrade at Center.

I have to give Sully some credit though. He didn't roll any snaps on the turf ala Birk during important games....

Our secondary tackled like girls, shrill little screams and all. We need to fix that. I know why some people wanted Mays. I don't agree but I certainly understand the thought behind it.
