"They allow you to play football here," he said. "I've never been in a system like this, where the coaches put it on the players. You need special players to do that. There's a lot of trust there ...[and] it makes you very accountable."

Read this carefully. It speaks volumes to the lack of discipline on the team in the past and the lack of communication in the secondary. You call this coaching?

This defense is aging very quick and Ryan's schemes will not work without top young talent in the secondary , we only had that for a few short years..........a once great defense was wasted for about three years after the super bowl win because Ozzie failed to bring in top talent on the offense , I"m glad I'm out of there collecting millions from a great owner , I love Steve very much..........

"But when Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed showed up at camp with a shoulder injury, Leonhard's role kept growing."

Does anyone know how Reed injured is shoulder?
Is it non football related? Was it from last year?

Leonhard looks to be quite a hustler. I like what I see thus far in him.

our secondary will be awful regardless of these two guys. Rolle should've been gone 2 years ago, Cmac is an old brittle player who lacks the desire to play. Our D coach Ryan is being exposed to be nothing more than a blitz happy idiot who relies on the big name talent on our team rather than create schemes with the talent he has to work with to stop the opposing offense.

The Raven's are in big trouble. Every pro and college major sport team within 50 miles of Baltimore is weak. Thank gosh for Phelps. OK, I know there are exceptions. I like some of the local debate teams!

I am very very nervous about this team. Do we need new nutritionists, trainers, or both? So many injuries...

Why is it that ESPN has a report that Boller's shoulder is more serious then orginally thought and the Sun hasn't said a word?

This defense has consistently finished as one to the top defenses in th NFL, usually comfortably in the top 10. If this is the result of "aging", "lack of discipline" or even "a blitz happy idiot"...

GIVE ME MORE.

We can not realistically expect them to play at the extraordinary level that was benchmarked by the '00 unit. Although, we can persue greater, the chances of even achieving close to that level in a NFL "Capped" system, while trying to build the offense to an overall balance is not likely to happen.

This "D" unit is still going to play with as one of the highest ranked, and rescue some games for us along the way. And hopefully, so will the offense - in time.
