Career ending? Minor injury per the doctor. surgery minor
Can be treated many ways. Pretty much full range of motion. not threatening life, limb or ambulatory status. Might have to learn to live with it. All very confusing. Seems like much ado about a very minor thing that causes discomfort but is not life or career threatening. Hey, Reed "got his". He "got paid". It all changes after they get paid.

Time to wipe the slate clean and get rid of all the malingerers! Ed Reed, Todd Heap, and a Chris McCallister, all of these Prima Dona's must go if Harbaugh is going to be successful here, now you can see what babyin these guys all thee years has done .

Ed Reed gives out some of the hardest hits and Todd Heap takes some of the hardest shots of any football players Baltimore has ever seen. They bring their "A" game every Sunday.

If you think that either of those guys are prima donnas, you don't really know much about football.

I don't think they are by nature bad guys. All very talented and have given alot. But it is interesting that they all "got paid"! Its the culmination of pop warner, high school, college and the first few years in the nfl. PAYDAY. Riches in the form of GUARANTEED mullah. The big score. Ultimate touchdown. Its simply human nature to let down at that point. I like the Patriot/Steeler approach. Very few get "paid". See ya Ty Law, See ya Alan Faneca. They only pay the true talents with incredible game affecting talents(Brady, big Ben, Moss and yes Peyton of Colts)Not tight ends, linebackers(dime a dozen) and safties.

Just a "coincidence" we drafted two safeties and got another as an FA?

Whatever. Good that we have some depth at THIS position - one of the few.

Just go on IR ! What its going to do is take a roster spot.Or he's play one or two game like someone did last year. Take Boller with you! If a O's pitcher can't come back from the same injury ....why do they think Ritalin Boy can ! One thing the football is bigger and heavier.

If there's nothing wrong with his neck or spine (and MRIs were apparently negative), and this is just an impinged nerve (a burner or stinger), then at worst Reed is dealing with some pain and resulting limited range of motion. There should be no risk of making the injury worse if he plays, unlike Shawn Merriman's knee situation (he's legitimately stupid for playing through it). There's also likely no surgical option to make the pain go away, as orthopedic/neurological medicine is still trying to figure out how to correct nerve damage/nerve injury.

As long as his wheels are working, I'll take a one-armed Ed Reed over just about any other safety in the league. I think he should suck it up.

Agree with you 100%, Mike. If any of these guys play more than a couple of games this year, I hope everyone will take photos, record video and whatever else you're going to need to do to preserve them in your memories because this is probably their swan song. Time to move forward and say goodbye to the past. If you can't be on the field, you're of no use to anyone.

what a burn! I picked up Ed Reed in my fantasy League, one of the first defensive players that I picked up after every quality offensive player was scooped up.

Just curious if any of you guys ever played sports above the high school level or are doctors. Maybe you coached in the pros because you seem to know more than the experts after reading a few newspaper articles. I guess these guys should jeopardize their health and become crippled later in life to entertain you on Sunday. Anyone who has ever played anything other than little league knows to make it to where Reed, Heap, and McCallister are and to have the success they have had takes one hell of a sacrifice and alot of hard work. Maybe one of you should try out for the Ravens and show these guys how it is done.
