Go ask many of the athletes from Chicago that ended up in Columbus or Ann Arbor. But this is a silly argument. I support the Champaign area and this will be the third time I said so.

Actually, I would like it even better if they would consider Dekalb. But I remember the comment of my mother the first time she drove to the campus, "How the hell did they manage to put a 25,000 student university in the middle of nowhere?"

You need the same course. He assumed it was my stance on Champaign, which I denied. But to satisfy you, there is the Tribune, Sports Illustrated, online interviews with athletes that have chosen other schools.
No one assumed or implied. You inferred. So, post links. Don't just say "Tribune, Sports Illustrated, online interviews with athletes."

Simple lesson for you, if you're not prepared to support controversial statements with facts, then don't make them.

Unfortunately, Ohio State and Michigan have done a much better job winning football games over the years, which is probably why some Chicago athletes have ended up in Columbus and Ann Arbor.

I'll say it again.....please name one high-profile athlete that didn't go to U of I because of the town. I don't think you can.

Many college campuses are in less populated areas.

Think about it.....why would states have built universities in cities when the cost of land was/is much cheaper in suburban and rural areas?

Try "Reading for Dummies". I inferred nothing about Champaign. I said others did.

Look, Mr. Disgusted is not going to engage in a reasonable discussion.

He's just going to throw out that claim about the U of I, then say "others" said it, then use the ever-so-clever "Reading for Dummies" insult if you challenge him.

So give it a rest.

To put this as nicely as I can, either post a link or shut up.

1963? Are you serious? I ask for a link and you give me this? It's from a study about the effects of RUMORS about discrimination in 1963!!!!!!. Did you even read it? I will shut up and apologize if you can produce one reliable and pertinent source that corroborates your controversial claim. Otherwise, please consider taking the advice I posted earlier.

There are more. Do your own research. Telling someone to shut up is advice? In that case, I advise you to take an enema.

The earth is flat. Do your own research.
Seriously, don't expect that people won't call you out when you say stupid things. Don't expect that people won't read the ridiculous links you post that don't even defend your stupid statement. If you had bothered to read that you would have known.

But please, I can appreciate where your coming from when you tell me to "do my own research." You're probably tired of googling every combination of "university" "illinois" "athletic" "racism" "champaign","ur bana" "whydoisaystupidthingsont heinternet", and finding nothing to back up your ridiculous claim.

But I'll let you off the hook. I should have taken Coach Zuppke's advice. Anyway it helped to get my mind off the loss.
