What are the chances of getting Polian to head over to the Fieldhouse and give Bird a lesson on drafting quality guys?

Or, does anyone know if Peyton has a jumper or if Marvin can run point?

Why does Polian do so poorly with 2nd and 3rd round picks if he is so good? If he is such a genious, then what happens there? I believe every team can find successes that they have lucked into in rounds 4 through 7.

I think the contrary. If theory serves in the draft...you should be better able to find capable players in rounds 2 & 3 over 5, 6 or 7.

It doesnt really matter in the end when you get the guys as long as you get who you need/want. If we can get Bethea in round 6 instead of 3, then so be it. I trust Polian. There is no reason not to and every reason to believe he knows what he is doing.

Why would you say he does poorly with 2nd and 3rd rounders? That was part of the artical. Bob Sanders, Mike Doss, Mike Peterson, Marcus Washington, and Larry Tripplet were all 2nd round selections over the years. Get your facts together.

This is one of those instances where some cant see the forest for the trees. What is an acceptable percentages of hits in any one round? A list of hits from one round that leaves out the list of misses proves nothing. The only measuring stick that matters is that he assembled the talent that got to and won the ultimate game. He has in the past kept team at the top without quite busting thru but this time he did so and it is a joke of an exercise to try and nit pick or break down his performance. He faces his toughest job now. Sticking around the top in striking position while juggling the cap and rebuulding the roster will be a huge challenge and this year will be the foundation for that.

When did Gary Bracket become a gem ! Have fun with that fine linebacking corps you have Colts fan, led by pathetic Rob Morris who wouldnt start for any other team in the NFL. Your D is dreadful, I am still amazed they won the Super Bowl with that D. Just send thank you letters to Mcnair for throwing 2 costly picks, cuz your offense did nothing in Baltimore.

GO RAVENS- With Willis in town, the offensive leader we have been waiting for to go along with the #1 D in the league, the Ravens along with the Pats are clearly the 2 best teams in the AFC. Addalius Thomas along with 2 1st round picks 1 probably being Michael Griffin, I hate to say it, but the Pats are loaded again on defense.

And then the dumbass gives away Peterson and Washington and leaves you with the worse linebacking group in the NFL this year that will get that asses ran over even worse then last year.
Thanks bud, I know how impressive your LB crew was when we stomped the Baltimore Browns

Hey einstein, your offense did nothing vs our defense, it was Steve Mcnair with his pick on the 1 yd line and another on the 30 yd line that cost us them game. Manning had a qb rating of 39 @ Baltimore and you guys rushed for 94 yards. We have the best D in the league by far and even with losing Addalius Thomas the Ravens linebacers- Terrell Suggs, Bart Scott and Ray Lewis is the best group in the league. We needed a big time rb and we got one in Willis Magahee, cant wait to pound your asses dec 9th.

It's easier to trash talk in the off-season, isn't it?

Last time I checked, Baltimore still lost. And oh yeah, didn't the 'finesse' team hold the ball for over 7 minutes in the 4th quarter while running it up your collective rears? Where was your #1 defense then?

Get over yourself.

I'm shaking in boots here. Can't believe you're bringing up Ray Lewis, he's slowing down and you know it. I think you're going to miss Adalius more than you think. The Pats are not known for making poor free agent signings. As for McGahee, he ain't all that. His best year was 2004. And, I question his durability.

As for the game itself, McNair and Manning's stats were nearly identical (McNair: 18 of 29 for 173 and 2 picks, Manning: 15 of 30 for 170 and 2 picks). And, why would that be? Because both D's were there to kick a** and take names. I saw a great defensive game, with very little fanfare on offense, just like it should have been. Yeah, you could have won, but you didn't. Why do you want to ride on McNair, when at the beginning of the season he was your savior? Like so many Baltimore fans, all you can do is hate on your team and mine. I'm also looking forward to a rematch in December.

other than rob morris, who is still with us, from 1996-2003 all of our first round picks have either been all pros or pro bowlers. can't really argue with that

With our payroll on offense its a miracle we even suit up 11 guys on defense. Bill is the best GM in pro sports, period. Any doubters notice we havent lost anyone we cant replace? Most of the guys we lost got way overpaid.

To Ravens Fans: We beat you at YOUR house playing YOUR game.

I must be reading a different column and have a far different view of how well Polian does with picks, regardless of which round, than this poster. Not to mention the fact that Polians' record speaks for itself.

I'm befuddled as to why this poster (Corporate Greed) seems to think Polian does so poorly.

I don't think you can name a handful of GMs/Directors of Player Personnel who have the consistently successful track record Polian has.

Polian's nose and instinct for finding gems in the later rounds is legendary. And if CG believes BP is merely lucky, then perhaps BP should play every state lottery, enter the Irish Sweepstakes, pick the winner of the Triple Crown of horse racing, and play the stock market. Polian's picks are uncannily correct. The man knows how to evaluate talent and athleticism.

Oh, by the way, CG,'genious' is spelled g-e-n-i-u-s.

Hey, CDB, tell me again what the score of the Ravens game was?

The Colts D was pathetic? Actually, you're pathetic. The Colts offense did what other teams hadn't been able to do against the highly regarded,#1 Ravens D, and that was score points. Doesn't matter whether they were TDs or FGs or whatever...the Colts scored 15 points against a Baltimore D that had been allowing less PPG average than the Colts scored. Not only that, but the Colts D shut down Jamal Lewis, frustrated Steve McNair and outplayed the Ravens at their own game: D-E-F-E-N-S-E.

I don't know what the Ravens management was thinking when they signed McNair. He's on the downside of his career and in big games has a tendency to choke. Blame it all on McNair if that makes you happy. The fact is that the Colts were pushing around that big ol' Ravens O line all day long and were getting in McNair's face. With the run game shut down, McNair was being forced to throw to try to loosen up the run and that's another thing McNair isn't good at: being forced to throw. He likes to be able to stand in the pocket and throw....forcing throws isn't something he's good at.

So the Ravens and the Pats are the class of & best teams in the AFC? That's interesting. How could you overlook the Chargers? Colts? Chiefs? I'll tell you how: bias and wishful thinking.

The Pats picking up Randy Moss shows how desperate they were. Moss, no matter where he plays, has the potential to be a great liability and a game changer; but the cold hard facts are that Moss very quickly wears out his welcome and soon becomes a malcontent... a moody, brooding, greedy, self-centered, egomaniacal crybaby who'll throw his teammates under the bus.

He'll pout and he'll whine. Then one day he'll get frustrated (for whatever reason) call Tom Brady and others out along the sidelines and show NE fans his true colors as he has in other NFL cities. I guarantee you that Owner Kraft and Coach Belichick won't tolerate Moss' antics. Belichick is a no-nonsense coach who demands a certain work ethic from his players. Moss won't be able to work under those conditions.

Let's put it this way: if a player (any player) can't fit in in the Raiders organization, he'll not fit in anywhere. Moss' honeymoons are worn out quicker than TO's.

Prediction: Moss will be fine for the first 13-14 games and then he'll show himself, as he has in other venues, and swiftly wear out his welcome.

The biggest detriment to the Ravens' success is having Steve McNair at QB. And that will negate any success they had in the draft. Face it, CDB, McNair is a couple of steps slower and his decision making leaves much to be desired.

By the way, in case you forgot, the score of the Colts-Ravens game was Colts 15, Ravens 6! And that was in Baltimore....
