Stills: Livelihood on line

Full story: Baltimore Sun

"That's good. Pressure is my best friend." That's an attitude that helped Stills, 34, through nine NFL seasons spent in two cities.

With all of our issues, I think we would honestly be crazy not to keep Stills AND Ayanbedejo. Both add good depth to an already stacked LB corp, yes, but having both on special teams, at this point, also, I would say, needs to be a luxury that we allow ourselves to afford. Our offense is going to struggle this season no matter what. Even if our QB situation WASN'T ridiculous right now, it's going to take some time for Cam's new offense to really settle in and get going.

And a high powered, dominating special teams unit, spearheaded by the two best ST tacklers in the league, would certainly go a long way to helping us win some games. We certainly have many needs and many positions that need depth, but really, how can we NOT keep Stills? I really hope he makes the cut, as I would hate to see him go.

I agree with Pro Raven. We can not afford to keep a 34 year old when we have so many good young LB candidates. We have to build on what little quality we have.

I agree totally. What this article did not mention is that last year in training camp, Stills hurt his knee and yet he still played on it ALL YEAR LONG.

Stills is an incredible ST player, and he can only help this team.

We need ALL the help we can get.

I would cut Heap since more than likely Mr. Fragile ( thats French for soft)-- a little Christmas Story humor--- will miss atleast 6 games this year.

Don't ever let the facts get in the way. Heap exposes himself to a lot of injuries because of the way he plays. He also may not "heal" as fast as some of the other players because of choices he makes personally. However he played 12 games as rookie. Since his rookie season he has missed a total of 12 games in 6 years. The guy is tough,he plays hrt, sacrifices his body and plays through much more than some players. There are a lot of things to criticize with this team but Heap's toughness is not one of them.

Why would you cut Stills when there are so many others that are more deserving of the honor. Give the Heap thing a break. When he is in the game he is the one player every Quarterback looks for. He plays hard and puts his all into the catch regardless the risk.Sometimes he pays the price most of the time the team benefits.

We have plenty of depth at LB, so Stills is expendable. Our reserve D-Line looked good in the preseason (controlling the line of scrimmage if not putting pressure on the QB), so I was a bit puzzled by the trade for Douglas. A fine player, but apparently on the outs with Tampa; we probably gave up too much offering 2 picks. Given our banged up secondary and lackluster play of the backups, I'm surprised they didn't target some CBs for a trade.

Oh well, in OZ we trust.

Why an article about Gary Stills. Isn't the bigger story is out inept offensive line. Our running back by committee. Our lack of cornerbacks. Even the QB issue is bigger than Gary Stills. He is a hired gun. He was not drafted by this team so who cares!

You have to respect players like Stills. He's stuck around through effort and hard work. You hope the Ravens can find a spot for him, but unfortunately it's a business and they cant keep everyone.

It's a shame we have guys who haven't given the effort Stills has but will make the squad any way. I hope the coach weeds the dead wood out before next years training camp.

I really like Stills and hope he makes the cut, but will understand if he does not. I would keep him over almost any one who is only going to play special teams, and he has looked decent coming off the edge as a DE.

We could get some DB's for him --Lord knows our D is our only hope and they are way over rated. Hey Rex stop with all the blitzs----3rd and 15 how about just good solid coverage---Rex another coach that is over rated!!!!
