Should the Lions Sign JaMarcus Russell?

Jun 13, 2010 Full story: CBS SportsLine 15

The risk/reward factor is helped by the fact that we have a legitimate back-up QB in Shaun Hill , so we wouldn't have to worry about Russell leading the offense if Stafford goes down.

Yes they should. He is a very low risk. They could sign him to the league minimum and try to see if he is workable...if not you haven't invested much but he does have a cannon with the right tutelage, he could grow up and actually try to learn.

Why would detroit be given this GREAT(Stupid)Idea?
To Make them Look Deranged again?
Get some other TEAM to Pick up this Never WAS.
This Guy doesn't care about playing football.
He got a lot of Money. and that was enough.
Now Detroit should Pay this guy to ride the Pine because he Might someday decide to want to Play Football? NO.
WE have been Getting rid of these kind of Players.
NOw we should take him in because he Needs to make a Paycheck?
Let some other TEAM PICK him up.
The Jets are going to need a bu QB someday,or The Patriots,Dolphines,Tampa BAY, San Fransisco.
Hey here's a thought, How about Greenbay,Minnasota,or Chicago?
NOT Detroit!
Why is it that someone allways wants detroit to pick up another Player with problems when Detroit has had enough in their past Allready?

The Lions wouldn't even consider it anyway. The guy has proven he can't play at this level. Russel may have the skill set, but doesn't have the P. Manning like brain to play in this league. Matthew Stafford is a very capable QB and they just picked up Shaun Hill as a backup. They will probably go and find someone else to fill the 3rd QB spot.

There isn't any other QB in the league that has a P. Manning(not even Brees)like brain...that's a bit of an unfair comparison. No doubt Russell has a long way to go...but most teams would be smart picking him up as a 3rd string QB...he has more talent than most and if he sat on the benched and learned for a couple years he could end up being a great pick up. I think the guy is a dumb ass but you can't run a team with personal feelings....there is no denying he has talent and the weight issues was a bunch of BS. That was a media driven story that was a waste of breath.

Russell would be a hrrible mistake. Worst #1 pick ever, at least in recent history. Training camp holdout, fat pig and not smart. Legend in his own mind.

Russell was terrible because of his attitude and work ethic. He didn't care about his team or the game one bit. He isn't very smart or vocal either. That aside, his upside is really high. The guy is still pretty damn young and SOME coach will see something in him.

It might be a few months or another year, but if J Marc starts working out again, he could def. make a training camp somewhere to be the no 3 qb.

Raider_Faith, if we did pick him up, it wouldnt be for the league minimum, it would be for the landscapers minimum.

Detroit is in Great condition as far as QBs go.
Why would they want to bring in some dude who is as he Looks. Selfish.
The turn around that Mayhew and Schwartz are making in Detroit is in Part because they are Releasing All the Selfish Players that were once on this Team. You Know, The Type of Players that just come to practice and Games to collect that Paycheck.
Now the Lions TEAM is Being filled of unselfish Players Like Vanden Bosch, Suh, Cory Williams,Cliff Avril,Turk Mcbride.
and that is just the D- Line.
And on the Offensive side, Just to start out with, Shaun Hill,Calvin Johnson,Muarice Morris.Just a Sample of the kind of players that make up this unselfish group.
JaMarcus Russell, I am Allmost insulted that anyone would suggest it.
However that is the way it Allway's is with The Lion Hater's in the world.
Like Todd Mcshay, However you spell his Name.
Who did the Man Suggest that the Lions Chose in the Draft with thier First Pick No.13 in the 2011 Draft. Nate solder, Colorado. Of Coarse That is who Todd is trying to push on the LIONS!
The OT that Played the Worst in the Senior Bowl.
Oh, duh the LIONS should take Nate Solder out of Colorado,Duh!
Mcshae, Does'nt even try to cover up the fact that he is a Bears Fan and would ever only send anyone to the LIONS that would help to Keep the Lions at the Bottom of the NFC North.
When Todd Mcshay Suggests just about anyone to the LIONS you can just about Be sure that he is planning for that player to be a Bust for the LIONS!
But watch out he might Suggest someone that he was planning for the Bears, To kind of cover his tracks.
Anyway's anyone that would suggest JaMarcus Russell to go to the LIONS Must be one of Todds Buddies.

rummor has it that the seahawks are interested in a (qb). if that be the case pete caroll would be the man to help jamarcus russell. first of all j russell would have to help himself, which i think after all this thing about him being "maybe the biggest bust in the nfl" could have him licking his chops for another oportunity. it does not matter if he has to start at the bottom. his chances in the nfl are very slim but yet very great. specially if pete caroll is his coach. best oportunity yet for russell if the rummor is true!
GO RAIDERS 2011!!!
