Per Scout.com : Article dated 07/23/07:

http://colts.scout.com/a.z...

With Vick out of camp, veteran QB Joey Harrington will handle the first-team offensive reps. If it turns out that Vick is suspended for more than four games, it's quite possible the team looks at signing another veteran signal caller.

Veteran QB Drew Bledsoe, after being released by the Dallas Cowboys, has said he's retiring. But according to a league source, Bledsoe has yet to turn in his retirement papers to the league.

Not only Atlanta, How about the BEARS!! SOLID Defense and NO QB...Grossman is a joke. Bledsoe n Chicago could be a SuperBowl combination!

I am hoping that Bledsoe will get the itch to come back and get plugged in by mid season to lead a team to the playoffs like the Bears.

Stay Tuned..........

The NFL has lost its mind. Remember 2006? The Dallas Cowboys played approximately 10 teams who made the playoffs. In that one year alone, Bledose had four games where touchdown passes won the game in the final two minutes. In 2007, he got pulled out of the Giants game with a 3-2 record. In those 5 games, the Cowboys scored 27, 45, 34, 24, and 17 points. In the three wins, they outscored their opponents 106-30. In the two losses, they were outscored 62-41. It is tough to win giving up 31 points a game. Yet Bledsoe got blamed. Bledsoe got benched. So now we are left with a league of subpar quaterbacks with weak arms. The NFL is in a sad state.

I agree--there are a lot of BAD quarterbacks out there--they are a joke to watch--Bledsoe could have filled in any one of those spots this year and there would be one more winning team out there--

Yes....Romo throws 5 INTs and no one brings up Bledsoe's name and how little tolerance they would have had with that performance.

Meanwhile...in Buffalo.....they haven't been even half-good since they let Bledsoe go! These coaches and GM's are nuts!

Look at Washington...have you actually watched Jason Campbell play? He's horrible!!! Bledsoe still has the arm...all he needs is the protection, the kind of protection that Brady gets, thet Drew NEVER got! Even Brady can't run! I don't get it. And I know there a lot of Bledsoe detractors out there, who will point to isolated games or stats, with good reason, but overall, in comparison to what is out there today....he should be starting somewhere. Even Testaverde is back!! Do you think the Panthers even thought about Drew? I wonder.

I agree with you totally!!!!!!!!!! It was pretty pathetic watching a "dejected" Romo sitting on the bench between sets.....his team mates trying to encourage him and lift his spirits. Puhleeeeeze!!!!!!!! If it had been Drew, he would 've been yanked after int#3!!!!! His team mates esp. big-mouth T.O. would have been all over him. Buffalo blew their chances ofbecoming contenders when they let Drew go. Look at them now!!!!!! Drew should still be playing!!!!!!

I have never seen anyone in professional sports get such a raw deal. In a very small nutshell... Drew won the game over Pittsburgh for New England to advance to the SuperBowl...Brady gets the glory and started against the Rams. Drew took the Bills, from a non-contender to one of the best and most exciting teams to watch...JP wins the starting position and they are one of the worst performing offenses in football today. Drew was on his way to leading his team to a comeback victory over the Giants on that Monday Night, unfortunately, Romo comes in and eliminated all chances of a Cowboys victory. I have never been so upset and disgusted during a sporting event. In my opinion, the Cowboys had a few minor kinks to work out and they were on there way to the SuperBowl. Drew is the most underrated QB I've ever seen. Romo on the other hand, is the most overrated NFL player I've ever seen. How sweet would it be to see Drew back in uniform? The Bears would be my first choice.

Is Bledose going to return? He is far better then Ferrote, Lemon, Jackson, Dilfer, Vinny, Griese, Campbell, Eli..I can go on and on. Does he just not want to return?

I am also confused as to how none of these teams are picking up the phone and calling Drew. He is as good or better then a lot of the current QB's starting in the NFL.

I am sure Drew has gotten a few calls from teams. I would love to see him comeback and start for another team. You just see so many starting qbs go down so far and I can't believe no one is talking about Bledsoe. I don't want to knock any of these qbs that have come in but Drew is just as good or better then all of the fill ins that we've seen. The only thing I can think of is he doesn't want to come back. I would like to think that management from some of these teams have tried to contact Bledsoe. It would be great to see him back on the field. The NFL is not the same without him.

I think that is exactly the case. Sports Illustrated this week (with Brady on the cover) has an article about the QB position, and how it is sputturing as of late. It did mention Drew was contacted by "many teams" to inquire about his availability. He declined the invitations. Apparently he's happy coaching his kid's football team.

I too would like to see him return at least to prove his pundits wrong. It won't be this year. Maybe in 08? I have to doubt it though.

Then again, the title of this thread states that Drew has not filed his retirment papers as of 7/23/07. Anyone know the status of that? Has he still not filed, 3 months later? That might tell us something.

There are so many injuries of QB's out there this year Drew has a 100 plus chance of getting back in the mix if he wants to. Go for it Drew your not that old yet - you can do it! We all want you back in there - you can do it - no question about it!

i just read he declined jacksonville--sadly I think he's quite content to stay retired--unless he's just waiting for the right spot?
