Ralph Decker better get the Maximum sentenced allowed by Law. What he did was not only Barbaric, it could have Killed Tyler Moeller. I hope the Courts in Florida aren't as Lenient as the ones In Ohio...

Just like everywhere it will be someone elses fault, rough childhood, abusive father, too much television or violent movies combined with video games, you know the usual stuff and he will get 1 year probation.

Our courts are a joke!

One punch. That's what it was. Tyler Moeller got caught up in typical macho chest puffing and some random idiot at a bar knocked him on his butt. That's hardly barabic. Barbaric would be continuing to beat on Moeller after he fell.

I don't condone fighting but I was 21 once and I've been drunk quite a few times. Ralph Decker might be an idiot but having thrown and taken my share of punches I don't think this is quite the crime Buckeye fans are making it out to be.

I'm disappointed in Moeller. As a college football player representing Ohio State, I would expect him to have more sense than to be wasted at a Florida bar, getting into silly arguments with people like Decker (who, by the way, is not a 220 lb linebacker). Moeller should have been the bigger man and steered clear of trouble. Instead he ran his mouth. He didn't deserve a brain injury, but that wasn't Decker's intent.

I think Thaddeus would have faired better with one more year of ball. I don't know his personal situation, but there were some specific things he could have worked on (strength and quickness) and get ready for the run in 2010. I believe his stock would rise amazingly along with his $$ potential. I wish him luck...Go Bucks!

BS Detective......seems you know more about the incident than anyone else. Are you so sure Moeller got into a "silly argument"? From all acounts I've heard Decker just threw a sucker punch. Try listening to facts and stop forming worthless opinions based on your redneck past. Apparently you and Decker are one of a kind.

Try doing a google search. I haven't seen fit to follow this story because it involves a drunk jock and a drunk dope--case closed in my book--but I saw BS Detective's take and looked it up. This has been reported on in Florida. Apparently there are two versions but they both involve Moeller approaching Decker. The term "sucker punch" is rather subjective and not one I tend to utilize in my parlance but it does appear that Moeller wasn't expecting to be punched. However, I've been in a few bars myself and I understand that if you get into a debate with somebody who is drinking heavily (as most people are at 1:00am in a bar) you should expect it.

I agree that a college football player should have more sense than to be mixing it up with local riff raff on a Florida vacation.

Being a BS Detective,I am sure you were either an eye witeness or have investigated the facts surrounding the incident.Unless you were or have information to support your opinion,I suggest you with hold your prejudgement. The facts that have been released paint the perpatrator as a previous and frequent violator who has been charged with aggravated assult in the past.Other "facts" indicate Tyler was defending his sister from Decker when the alledged punch occurred. My guess is this guy will get to spend time eating government supplied rations...

You people are a bunch of Morons !! It was a sucker punch & Tyler Moeller could have died. I really don't care if any of you have been in a bar let alone get into a fight. You guy's were the ones who probably got knocked out, because your intelligence level is way below average. Ralph Decker's A Punk. What do you think about that ? Oh by the way, the versions where Tyler was the Instigator, is wrong. Decker was running his mouth & Tyler asked him what the Hel_ was his Problem. If your supposed to get sucker punched for that, you got issues Big time.

Sorry, I've got to put some of the blame on Tyler. He's the one who had more to lose. I can't fathom why Tyler Moeller even got engaged in a discussion with the guy.

I find it interesting that Tyler's sister was allegedly involved but hasn't said anything. That makes me wonder if she was looking for a little late night boink from Mr. Decker when Tyler went over and started acting all brotherly.

Of course that's just speculation. The only person we've heard from is Tyler's mom, who swears that Tyler didn't do anything wrong. I'm sure she's credible. I mean, MY mom could watch me set an entire busload of girl scouts on fire and she'd swear on a stack that I was a good boy who didn't start anything, but I'm sure Tyler's mom isn't like that.

Decker deserves some time for what he did. Felonious asault is hard to distinguish but it generally depends on the results more than the intent.

I do find it ironic, however, that the people who support Tyler are more guilty of speculation than those who are willing to admit that Moeller brought this on himself. I think those Buckeye goggles are impairing vision.

Gibson was Impressive..........the tilte to this Dispatch article wasn't!

"Thadeus Gibson/DE-OLB/Ohio State: Gibson also completed 32 reps on the bench after tipping the scales at 243. His 40 times ranged in the low-to-mid 4.7 area. Gibson really showed his stuff during the practice session. He was terrific in all the defensive line drills and looked incredibly athletic. Then, like many of the players who worked out this morning, Gibson was put through a battery of linebacker drills and was brilliant. There's little doubt that the college defensive end has the talent to make the immediate transition to outside linebacker in the NFL.

Tyler was at a restaurant with his family for his grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. Nobody in his family, to include Tyler even spoke to that kid. Decker found out Ty was an OSU FB player and decided to show his buddies how tough he was by sucker punching Ty in the back of the head. Ty was just standing there talking to his sister and uncle. It wasn't 2am at a nightclub where two guys got into it. It was 9pm at a restaurant, Ty was with his family celebrating his grandparents anniversary. Please know the facts before you start bashing an upstanding, young man.

Why spin lies? Nobody has said that Decker is an angel just as nobody said Moeller got what he deserved.

This happened after midnight, both men were drinking. You're making it out like Moeller was hugging his grandmother when Decker just ran up and hit him. Clearly not true.

Also, this bar doesn't seem to be the best place to have an anniversary party for grandma and grandpa.

http://www.gatorscafe.com/

Notice all the blue and orange? It's also not the place to be waving your Buckeye flag around 1 am. Just like Frog Bear, Flannigans and Patrick J's aren't the kind of places to be yelling "hook 'em horns" during the witching hour.
