Since this theam is 1-5 there is no reason why Allen shouldn't be out there, his position isn't like a QB position he can actually get better by getting beat. I mean how much worse can he be than the rest of the guys out there, getting beat is getting beat right?

if Allen has a rash... maybe he should put some cortisone on it. He will have no impact on the "D". He is at best a suspect draft choice and in no way deserved to be a number one pick

Maybe his commitment to learning the scheme should equal his commitment to hold out of camp!

I totally agree with you. I am convinced that Allen has the potential to be our star FS for the next ten years. Just give him some time to develop.

The most amazing thing about football is the "win" now mentality. Saban has drafted well. But he also knows better than to throw the rookies to wolves. Saban has built a nice core of young players that will be playing alot more next year. It took Travis Daniels 3 years to learn the same system in college...3 years! By my caluculation that makes next year our deciding year. I think next year we see alot of Roth, Allen, Toledo...guys that are on the second and 3rd teams just learning the system. I think the average age on the Bears is 26. Give Saban a least 1 more year before all this bust talk. He can evaluate talent but in his system the players are not going to see the field until they know it 100% or there is an emergency! Have faith people. If you bought into the media hype before the season, well shame on you!

Why should it take so long to learn this GD system? Why the hell is it so complicated? At any rate, whatever the system is, it sure doesn't look like it's working to me. This secondary is good for allowing 1 or 2 long plays a game, and there's way too many wide open opposing receivers. It seems it's more the system than it is the guys who are playing it. If Allen is to amount to anything at all, then he needs to play. If he can't play, then Saban needs to fess up the guy isn't smart enough to grasp this GD system of his, which isn't working anyway. I'm sorry, but it just seems like yet another round of BS from Saban. Throw the guy into the fire. Let him learn or cut bait.

Some of you guys are a hoot. Allen is a bust, why is the system so hard to learn, it doesn't seem to be working.

The defense is not the problem. Scoring 13 points per game on offense is.

So because Allen hasn't started as a rookie yet, he's a bust? Did you guys just start watching football?

I agree with Humpty Dumpty there.. Common everyone! Yeah, our secondary is making some mistakes in the games, but what defense is not going to when the offense hands the ball right back over all damn day! Without balance on BOTH sides of the ball any defense is going to get scored on. If not, then Baltimore would not have lost 2 in a row. They have one of the most dominating defenses in the league.. Got to have balance people. Once our offense starts playing you will no longer recognize the few mistakes the defense makes each game.
And to prove my point. What game this year have we NOT been in going into the 4th quarter and even half way through it? Sorry, I just don't like blamming this defense for ANY of the Dolphins problems until I see an offense that gets off it's ass to make plays, PERIOD!!

Way too early to judge him a bust. Fair, however, to question drafting him in the first considering the other more pressing needs of the team.... OLB, OLine. Time will tell, but Nick's drafting, trades, and FA signings at this point look suspect.

Then why was this guy so rated so low by the other 29 NFL teams?????

most of Saban's draft choices are either not with team or on the bench

WHAT DO THE DOLPHINS HAVE TO SHOW FOR THEIR FIRST AND SECOND ROUND PICKS THIS YEAR? THEIR FIRST ROUND PICK IS SO BAD HE CAN'T EVEN START ON SPECIAL TEAMS!! THE SECOND ROUND PICK
(TRADED FOR C-PEPP) PRODUCED A PLAYER WHO CAN'T PLAY!! TWO PICKS--NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT. SABAN COULD HAVE CHOSEN MVP CANDIDATE DREW BREES. SABAN COULD HAVE GOTTEN US A REAL LEFT TACKLE. HE COULD HAVE GOTTEN US A DB WITH TWO GOOD LEGS --- BUT NOOOOO--HE TOTALLY WASTED WAYNE'S MILLIONS ON 2 GUYS WHO CAN'T PLAY!! ADD ON SABAN'S POOR PREPARATION AND HORRID GAME MANAGEMENT AND YOU'VE GOT THE FORMULA FOR A 4-12 SEASON. AM I THE ONLY SEASON TICKET HOLDER WHO FEELS THAT SABAN SHOULD BE FIRED?
NOOOOOO!! 30,000 EMPTY SEATS AT DOLPHIN STADIUM BEAR GRIM TESTIMONY TO THE SORRY STATE OF THIS TEAM. THE UPCOMING BYE WEEK WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO PULL THE PLUG. WAYNE, FOR GOD SAKES, FIRE HIS ASS NOW!!!

A suprising number of fans, and media, are idiots.

"Bench DC for joey!" turns into "why aren't they starting daunte?!" in half of the nfl sites i see.

Half the fans think Allen could very well develop, and point to some stealers safety who just happens to be one of the top 3 (easily) safeties in the league.

No doubt when Allen does get in there, and if he tears it up and rocks like a no. 1 should, I'll see these same idiots advocating how great a pick he was and how they knew the day Allen was born he'd be a menace to opposing offenses.
Of course, you'll still bitch about Saban holding him out half the year, but hey, you can't win 'em all, now can you?

And I agree with Humpty to a point. Our offense is our biggest problem, but the secondary isn't exactly a gleaming diamond right now, so why not improve what we can?
Hell, seasons over. It'll be easier to fix the D then to wade through the mess that is our offense.
At least we might get a stab at Quin, and i think we'll be fools not to take it.
Quinn no 1, next two picks Oline and reciever.

Hello!!!!!!!!!! News flash Saban, 10 days in not that big of a difference in development. If Allen wasn't so worried about the most money he can make prior to even proving himself we would not be talking about this. But he is greedy and unproven. Suick it up now that you have your money and get out there and prove to everyone your worth it, because quit frankly I don think you are.

ALL THE SAFETIES PICKED IN THE FIRST ROUND ARE STARTING FOR THEIR TEAMS BUT NOT OURS. ALLEN WAS OVERRATED IN COLLEGE JUST LOOK AT HIS TENNESSEE VOLS TEAM THEY SUCKED NOTHING BUT A NAME OH AND IVE BEEN WATCHING FOOTBALL SINCE I WAS 3 22 YEARS AGO . MAYBE WE DONT WORK IN THE NFL BUT IT DOESNT TAKE ROCKET SCIENTISTS TO UNDER STAND A GAME IF IT DID NO ONE WOULD FOLLOW IT. ID LIKE TO SEE SOME AVERAGE JOE LEARN THE SYSTEM AND PROVE YOU IDIOTS WRONG.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Pisces

Someone is extremely headstrong and defiant today, and there's every chance that you're the one fitting this description. The more others are trying to make you behave yourself or do what they want, the more determined you'll be to do the exact opposite. Well, it is a Full Moon, and a lunar eclipse in emotional Cancer, so you're excused! Show them that you're an individual in your own right without going completely overboard about it, because that will cause trouble. Then once you've got all that off your chest you can relax and look forward to a really Happy New Year!
