The way I see it, the chiefs have two ways to go. They can continue like they have in the past and go big time in the free agency route and have a quick fix that will be a decent team with a play off possible and keep the salary in the bottom 10% in the NFL. Or they can build through the draft in 2 or 3 years have a super bowl contender. I would not go into free agency unless it is bargain priced with no big bonus and will fill a hole that can't be filled any other way. Let's face it, There is a reason why the top teams have a large payroll in the top !0% of the league and bottom feeders like the Chiefs are in the bottom 10%.

dont get me wrong, im a lifetime chiefs fan through thick and thin. im not like the fans that switch to another team because their not going anywhere, either you like them or you dont.clark hunt gave herm and carl a choice make the playoffs or else. the writting is on the wall plain and simple. clark has less patience than his dad.he needs to get tough on this and let the fans know he is on their side and is going to bring back chiefs football a winning team. even if he brung marty back thats a lot better than what we got now, bill cower would be the answer but dream on fans, anything is possible. .

Fire Carl Peterson. He has worn out his welcome. For years he has talked the Hunt's into signing washed up has-beens. If we are looking forward with a fresh start, the first new face we should see is the new G.M.'s. It has been reported that Lamar's son has never had a real loyalty to Peterson, which is why I was so shocked to hear that Carl would be returning. Now, if Peterson could sign free agents and draft like he talks,(as in saving his job this year) we would have won 5 superbowls in the last 20 years. It seems as if the Chiefs have always been that one or two players away, but in typical Carl Peterson fashion, we sign James Hasty instead of Deion Sanders. If we as Chiefs fans really proclaim to be Chiefs fans, we should be calling for Peterson's removal, and we should have done it after signing Bono.

I am all forthe Chiefs not going after older free agents in spots like WR or CB where speed comes into play. However in spots like OL where speed does not play as big as roll and we desprately need help we should pick up some guys. Not only would picking up a guy like Faneca improve the OL he could act as a mentor to Jake Long or any other OL guys we end up drafting.

I am 47 years old and have also watched this "effort in futility" since I was 9 years old.

The current plan of blowing up the team and building through the draft with younger free agents might just work.

Maybe we will get back to the playoffs with a legitimate chance by the time I am 50.(At least we have Big 12 football to watch this fall--Boomer Sooner...)

I think the chiefs need to spend more time finding good scouts. This is the only way to ensure good draft picks. This is something thats been needed for years after failed DT picks. Ten picks mean nothing if you dont know how to shop. I also feel they need to go after one of the top OL to add with the 1st round pick and maybe this will begin to solidify that posistion. We also need a big time WR to add with Bowe, lets stop playing games and get a big name that will produce at that posistion.
dude, you are clueless, bowe is a bigtime reciever, all we need is a Bernard berrian type speedster to play on the other side.

Chiefs and Huskers forever! We gotta get Jake Long at #5. If Long is gone,I would hope Dorsey or Ellis is there. I think Ellis might be a better fit though. But, in free agency...we have to look at speed/hands at wide receiver. I dont care who that is. I cant believe we had Joe Horn at one time...aagghh! Drayton Florence is a stud and he knows the division...perfect. I had alot of pain last year watching my teams...at least one of them should be winning next year.

I am also a die hard chiefs fan but we should trade larry johnson for a mid first round pick and a good reciver. Then pick up Stewart out of oregon. Sign Faneca and pick Long out of michigan. Then we could get a corner in free agency. Then we'll be a playoff team.

I see in one mock draft they had the Chief's picking Dorsey in the first round. Big mistake, The defence did very well last year and if you take into account all the three and outs the offence gave them, they did amazeingly well. We need to work on the offensive side of the ball with the draft. Offensive line first and a speedy wide receiver next. Corner back is the weakest link of the defensive side and the only one I would address in the draft. We should be able to get a run stuffer in free agency. With both ends and a linebacker good pass rushers we don't need a pass rushing tackle this year. That is something to consider for next year as well as a quarterback if Croyle doesn't progress. I still think we should try to trade No. 5 for Dallas's two first rounders and I think LJ is a much better back then McFadden. I only saw him play a couple of games, and against Missouri he didn't do much at all the first half and MU didn't have a real strong defence. He did better in the second half, but the other Arkansas back looked better than McFadden.

As for all the hype about being a fan. I consider myself a fan, but I understand that it is a game folks, Nothing life or death about it. I also consider myself a Jayhawks basketball fan and have been since the days of Clyde Lovellete and Phoeg Allen. So don't get bent out of shape when someone gets down on the Chiefs or the owners or management. It is just blowing off steam and like steam it dissapates. They will still be a Chiefs fan when all is said and done.

BACK to BACK to BACK to BACK. Building through the draft for four years? This sounds like the Carl Peterson 5 year super bowl plan. That means Herm will have been here for 6 years. If Carl is still around too and the tickets are 3 times as much? give me a break. I think were in trouble

coach herm, look i know dat ur the coach but if we released law, we need 2 go after "samuel" that would get us rite where we need to be on defense kearse(eagles) would be nice or even deangelo hall (falcons)could be something but offensive line that is where u should go after most important! what happend 2 our offense? once that is accomplished, our d-fense is top-10 i believe, we'll be fine 1 more thing what about Jake Plummer? for quarterback that would be a good fit!

Wow, lot's of harsh words about our team. "Trade Tony and Lj" c mon that's ridicoulus, Why send KC icons away from home? Ya know if my son was on a team that was not winning, Well i'd still be there rootin for them... If my dad was not performing up to other's standards at work, You bet i'd still be his #1 fan. Like it or not the CHIEFS are our team. I can garuntee you evreyone in the Chiefs organization are workin there butts of to put a winning team on the field, Even Mr. Peterson. There is nothing wrong with this team, The NFL has a whole lot of parity. One team can win it all 1 year and then be at the bottom ranks the next. Give it some time the Chiefs and evrey other NFL team will eventualy win the big one. Hopefully in our lifetime!

Long time chiefs fan. We need at least one big thing to happen, to keep us excited for this upcoming season. One big trade, one big signing, something. Even if it's just to make the fans feel better about the situation the team is in right now. I just can't see the direction the team is trying to move in. It looks like they are not sure themselves.
