Life is life and life is learning. These guys know they have to keep up their grades and when they don't they not only let themselves down but they let the team down, too bad.

How do you possibly fail your first quarter at OSU. Pretty sure it's English 101, Bio 101, Theatre 101, etc. Disappointing. Hopefully this isn't a trend that will continue in the future.

With all the academic resources that are available to these players there is no excuse for this. I'm not sure why he isn't taking advantage of all that is provided for him but hopefully his father will straighten him out. The team will miss him, and he wil miss out on some valuable experience.

How does this happen? With all of the opportunities at the players disposal. I realize that the responsibility falls on the student-athlete, but where are the academic advisors? This just didn't happen in the past few weeks! This is a process. He is letting his team, university and most importantly HIMSELF down. Hopefully he has another opportunity to go to the Rose Bowl. What a wasted opportunity!

Maybe he should have punched somebody on national television....then he'd get to play.

I agree with gmyers, This wasn't just something that occured overnight. You would think someone would be keeping up with how these kids were doing in the classroom. Especially the freshman. I'll bet his dad will have a few things to say to him!

Pretty much the only thing they have to do is show up - the tutors distill the info and hand it to them - I think it's disgusting that a senior can't even do the bare minimum - he's a real underaciever knucklehead Rob Rose. Also that's real funny Gee talking about how academics will be impaired by a playoff system. He's the one who's whored out academics - what message does that send students when you call a university structure 'Value City' etc The Rose Bowl lines his pocket and most importantly the regents and board members who gave him his job. So it's hos job to kiss the a-- of the Rose Bowl and bowl system. A playoff would be of course a thousand times better, you could still have the Rose Bowl as part of it. Merry Xmas!

I'll bet Duron's father is disappointed in him. Let's all hope he learns from this as his collegiate career progresses. I hope his dad is helping to counsel him.

I'm glad Rose did what he needed to do though.

Let's all remember that instances of this are very rare under Tressel. I well remember the 0.00 GPA scandal that unfolded just before a bowl game under Cooper's watch. The player's name escapes me but Cooper just shrugged it off. Amazing.
