Bottom Line: Dumping all 5 games to ALA, tOSU, Iowa, NEB, and WIS this year will end the JoePa era.

Time to win some games against top tier teams.

Michael Mauti can make this a great defense. He can't do that just because he is good, but because he has so many talented players behind him. He might need to play the outside linebacker position in order to get the best three linebackers in the starting lineup. As a redshirt junior, Mauti should know the system well enough to play any linebacker position. Look for Nate Stupar to add to the mix as an experienced role player type linebacker.

Prediction: The consistency of the offense will dictate the team's overall success.

Joe is doe---- Two top Penn State officials charged with covering up allegations of an explosive child-sex abuse scandal related to former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky stepped down late Sunday after an emergency meeting of the university's Board of Trustees.

Penn State Athletic Director Tim Curley requested to be placed on administrative leave so he could devote the time needed to defend himself against perjury and other charges, university President Graham Spanier said. Gary Schultz, vice president for finance and business, will step down and go back into retirement, Spanier said. He declined to comment to reporters after the meeting.

Resignations of famed football coach Joe Paterno and Spanier weren't discussed at the meeting, which was arranged Sunday and lasted two hours, university spokesman Bill Mahon said.
