He wont take out Tillman!! I'd say he could take out Vasher if he's playing as good as everyone says. But Tillman is a tuff, taller corner, who is in the top of the league as a cover corner. Vasher really has to start showing something or he'll get on 2nd string. Vashers a great Intercepter, but he's not the best in coverage. I'd rather have a real good cover guy that lets less completions, than a guy like Vasher that gambles too much and risks his coverage for the chance of a INT

What the heck are you smoking? Tillman is a good cover corner? Do you watch the games? He's a good tackler and has a knack for forcing fumbles, but his coverage skills are lacking as was apparent last year. I'm a die hard fan, but I'm not blind. You've got tunnel vision. Take off the blinders and look at some of the other top corners in the league. Tillman is just average, if not below average. Hopefully it's just technique and Hoke will be able to put the corners in better position this year.

Gotta agree with Hebs. Tillman is alright, and he is probably anaverage DB.

That is some good news that Bowman is playing so well. I'm not expecting them to get much pressure on the QB again this year. So, I think they are going to need to improve in the secondary and have better play calling, which should happen now that Lovie's BFF is out of the picture, if they want to have a better year defensively.

I think the reason our secondary looked pedestrian under Bob Babbich's watch is that he was blitzing like mad to compensate for the lack of pass rsuh.

When you roll up a safety and blitz LB's and crowd the LOS in the "Mug" front you are putting an inornate amount of pressure on the DB's....

You wonder why they played soft coverage most of the time ?? It was because they were left on an island all day long. They played soft to prevent the BIG play, which they did well but having LB's out of position on passing downs with a safety in the box really hurt the pass coverage.

5'th against the run was great but to do that, they had to lead the league in blitzing/over crowding the LOS... the end result was 30'th vs the pass. Much like the Vikings Defense seems to always end up...

Perhaps the new coaching along the Secondary, LB's, D-line and Lovie calling the plays will truly improve the Defense like they claim it will !!

I'm a wait ans see on the Bears D. But agree about less than enthusiastic remarks re: Tillman. Hard hitter, suspect coverage. Go Bears!!

I'm with Hebs...I'm no fan of Tillman. I still say he plays his hardest football after the whistle blows and I will never forgive him for costing us the game against Tampa Bay last year.

the more good corners the better. Tillman cost us the tampa game and won us the packer game two forced fumbles to get the defense off the field after the pack had been driving it right at us. bear down

This Bowman kid is for real, another draft gem found in the late rounds again. What we should do,but probably wont do. Would be to let Bowman take Tillmans spot at corner and have Vasher or Graham play the other side, whichever does better this offseason. Then we could put Tillman at Free safety and shore up the secondary. We could instantly turn our secondary into somewhat of a strength. Then leave Payne at strong safety and keep Manning in the nickel. But I just dont see the Bears sitting Tillman,to play Bowman as the article states. BEAR DOWN! GO BEARS,2009 DIVISION CHAMPIONS!!

At the end of last year our BIGGEST problem was coaching, even Lovie saw it. If you have to shuffle players then do it. A healthy Peanut Tillman is gonna help no matter where he is. Let's hope the brain trust can be creative and smart and put the best guys on the field.

Bowman is a real gamer and our Bears need to acknowledge this and get him on the field as a starter. This has been a problem for Lovie and J.C. in more ways than one Too much favoritism has made other productive players take a back-seat (Anthony Adams,Jamar Williams,Brandon Rideau and Kellen Davis to name a few.)Lets hope that they've finally seen the light when it comes to our own roster.... over-hyped free agents, high draft status and contracts aside, I'll take the blue collar "working man's" baller every time!!!!

Here's to a great 2009 Season Bears fans!!!!!!

if our pass rush from our front 4 is good than the secondary will be good. 2-3 seconds was the avg. time qb's had to throw in '06. 4+ seconds since then, so if we can get that pressure back o the qb we will be good.

Great post,I like your idea of Tillman at free safety,he would thrive there. That also gives us a chance to get Bowman on the field as well. Great ideas dude. Go Bears...
