This guy has been convinced he actually is a legit receiver.

"But if you take a look at the last four or five games (20 catches, 290 yards, 1 TD)… I feel like I have been very consistent with the way I have been playing."

He is confident because of a 58 ypg avg over a 5 games stretch and the Bears are passing on every free agent receiver out there. This could really be a long season. I grow more pessimistic by the day. Maybe the Bears are going to issue credits for buyers of the NFL ticket with the 30 mil they have to spend. There is still time to upgrade. Hopefully the Bears plan to.

I share your pessimism! God, another fall full of wasted Sunday afternoons!!

Orton might be kinda near to decent if he had some consistent receivers to work with. Hester ain't one of 'em!!

How to ruin an exciting, historic return man....make him believe he's a receiver! Color me bummed out!!

You only see what is what you think is obvious to your own faces. Not what is really happening.
YOU all act like spoiled little children, you pout and have tantrums when you do not get what you want.
As far as the BEARS are concerned, it is not about what you want.
Is is about what they think their needs are.
Not what a bunch of spoiled loud mouth fans want.
Shall I reiterate it AGAIN?
They may actually have a plan.
If you do not like it follow another team.
If you have season tickets, SELL THEM!!

Hester,

The sooner you stop playing receiver and start playing special teams ONLY, the better off we will all be.

My grandmother could have returned punts for a better average last year.

If my recollection of history is correct; both Napolean and Hitler had a "plan". How'd that work out for those old boys?

Then get her to sign for the league minimum and she can return puts and kicks.

Please be advised J W Chi Chicago, IL is no longer posting under that name, do to fraudulent posts put up under that user name.

That name will no longer be allowed to post. If someone does try to post using that name they will be Blocked, Suspended and/or terminated.

I have been advised to write this disclaimer.

The posts have been reported and will be dealt with accordingly by Topix.

Poster/s guilty of those posts will be dealt with by either Suspension of privileges to post or out right Termination of Privileges to post, under any name now or in the Future.

A verbal conflict is one thing but when fraud is concerned a totally different issues comes to the forefront.

I am only responsible for words I put on the Boards, not words put up by others pretending/posing to be me.

This fun and games time that certain posters have been playing has taken a forbidden turn. If it had stayed as words written by others using their user names, and not ones written pretending to be me, using my user name, that would of been fine.

However when my user name was totally taken from me and used by another user then all bets are off.

Topix has assured me that this matter will be investigated and dealt with.

I went along with your fun and games about the verbal war, however this last development was uncalled for. I assure you that whomever is responsible for those posts will be dealt with,

To J W Wheaton: You're an idiot!!!

Devin Hester #1 receiver. LOL.

Don't get me wrong, I love Hester and if Hester had some type of help as far as a real offensive coordinator and a another running mate than I could see great tings for the kid but until than the only yards he'll be getting are the one's off the pass interference calls.

And oh yeah, if Orton can actually throw a deep pass that isn't under thrown.

Jay Cutler coming to Chicago? Yeah, keep dreaming. The only players that come here through trade/free agency are and always will be, no name backups that come with a asking price off the league minimum.

Thank you, Devin for another chapter of The Company Line, but I'm not buyin' it. JW, what events in recent Bear history have convinced you the Bears have a plan? Angelo has hit on some free agents, but his draft picks (except for Forte) haven't been the best. So now he ignores free agency, where his talent lies, and waits for the draft, where he's struggled. He'll need a 1983-esque draft class to turn this team around, and I don't think he can do it. As for the depths of my fandom, I BLEED Navy Blue and Orange, sir, and want to see my Bears challenge for a World Championship every year. Unfortunatly, I don't believe the McCaskey family shares my view.

Can you just imagine Jay Cutler throwing to Devin Hester? WHOAAA!!! Orton lacks accuracy. Too many 'almosts' last season to hardly bear.

I like Hester. It didn't look like his biggest challenge was so much the athletic part of the receiver position, but it was the mental part. He looked confused a lot and you could see that there were several broken plays because he didn't do what he was supposed to.

Seems like he would be best as a 2nd receiver, speed burner, like Cliff Branch was to Fred Bilitnikoff (spelling?) for the Raiders.

Unfortunately, our Fred is Rashied (oops I dropped another one) Davis I guess, with no management interest to upgrade.

And, I agree with others that it's disappointing that Hester is "Comfortable" with mediocre numbers in the last 4 games of last year. I'd rather see him really upset that he went from a difference maker the year before to nearly irrelevant last year.

That's the team mantra:
Mediocre + Sell Outs of Soldier Field + good merchandise sales = a good year

Keep dreaming because it will never happen for a few reasons...

1.) The Bears will not trade for Cutler because he would be in line for a big payday...(Cheap ownership)

2.) He would have no line to block for him and would be flat on his back. Get used to the 3 step drop and short passes. Thats how you make up for a terrible o-line.

Wow Mr Wheaton (or is it really Mr McKaskey?), you sound angry. I agree with the 3 people you are mocking in such a juvenile and mean spirited way. So let me reiterate this- We as fans who foot the financial bill for this team have every right to question an organization that has done nothing to improve a pathetic NFL offense this offseason. Being a good fan doesn’t mean being a lemming, and not expressing an opinion when the team you are rooting for, and paying through the nose to support if you hace PCL’s, does nothing to make itself better when the opportunity is there to do so. And if YOU don’t like it, go read another board. Yes, Jerry sit on my tied hands Angelo, it is going to be a long year.
Happy St Paddies Day!

I'm not buying it! I would be happy with Hester as the #2 WR, but not the #1! Even if we got a #1 WR and Orton improves, who is going to block for Orton and open holes for Forte. Tait is gone, Williams is a huge question mark, St Clair has not signed, we have no guards, Kruetz is getting older and well a OL that wasn't good last year got 10 fold worse!

Not to mention that one of the worse defenses in football add no one and subtracted 2, while injury prone, were very productive - Dusty and Brown!

This team is going to be really really bad next season! Don't be shocked if the Lions have a better record than us!

I read that the Bears are Bringing in Hakeem Nicks (WR N.Carolina) in for a private workout. This is the kind of receiver that the Bears need to play opposite Hester. Big and physical ...oh yeah he can catch too.

Draft him!
