I don't get it about us fans, the media. You are worrying about a friggin' returner? To equate - check that- to exalt a returner in importance to the importance of what Orton has to do as a quarterback is missing the point big time. Josh has it spot on. Orton has to perform well. It is the nature of this league: Teams do well when they have a quarterback that manages the game and minimizes mistakes.

Dave,
Here is something I know. If Orton has another 14-24 for 135 yards 0 TD his days as starter will be numbered.

Now I know why you call yourself "metalhead". I was agreeing with you until you swerved off the road with your pointless attempt to justify Grossman's existance as a QB for the Bears. Grossman was beaten out during the preseason, he made poor decisions as QB last year that resulted in interceptions for TDs, he would mysteriously fumble snaps, and if anyone knows football, it is rare when your STARTING CENTER and STARTING QUARTERBACK foul up that exchange, but NOOOO, not Grossman. He would do this at least four to five times. And the coup de gras was his performance in the Super Bowl. It was time for old Rex to take a seat on the bench.

as long as the bears don't believe offense is part of the game then why risk a long term injury with him? we know they don't put money in the offense but why not give the guys they have a chance to prove themselves?this means simply not calling the same plays every week so defenses know what to plan for. imajine if the bears had ever heard of the play action pass or a pass play that called for more than 10 yards at a time other than the end of the game. open the playbook up and let's see if orton is just more than a don't lose the game qb.I am not a big fan but it is hard to believe he could throw the ball at purdue but not in the nfl. I know there is a difference but he doesn't even resemble the guy who set passing records in college.and somebody tell that idiot turner and lovie the object of the game is to score more points than your oppenent and if that means scoring on quick drives instead of grinding it on the ground then do it! the defense is getting paid big bucks to stop the other team no matter how long they have to be on the field so do it!as for playing hanie I would be all for it if they were going to let him play like an nfl qb instead of making him a hand the ball off robot.as for the grossman haters you will see who has the last laugh when he goes to a team that let's him play the same type of ball that he is good at.remember he was player of the month when they went to the super bowl then the bears decided wide open wasn't thier style and tried to make him a game manager. sure he makes stupid mistakes but at least he can do more than dump the ball off.I wonder if berrian gave rex any of his signing bonus since if it wasn't for him he would not have gotten that fat contract from the vikes, seeing as catching the deep ball from grossman is all he can do.

David you're too funny. Da Bears never let anything get in the way of keeping a player who could help. Right Berrian, right Chris Harris?

He's a football player. If he can go, put him out there. What is the matter with you people. It's a rib injury, not a knee. Nut up, it's football.

Man, what are you smoking? Ask Detroit fans about Matt Millen! He's got the worst record in the history of the NFL - not just win/loss but draft picks, coaches, etc.
GO BEARS, TEAR 'EM UP!!!
BEARS 27 BUC'S 12
Douchebag, Millen may be bad but at least he didn't draft someone first round with a bad back to begin with! That takes the cake NOT to mention TWO first round busts in the same draft...unprecedented.....Hayn es and Grossman, now you really have to try hard to beat that!! ANGELO = WORST GM IN THE LEAGUE!!!

I have torn cartilage in my ribs before, it takes at least a couple of weeks before you have full range of motion. (If this is what Hester has) he should absolutely sit out this week if not next week. Something like this could keep getting aggrevated all season if he tries to come back too quickly.

I feel that the Bears lost the game due to poor play calling.
In their many three and out series, typically they had two plunges through the middle for two yards apiece, leaving six yards to go.
Then Orton completed a five yard pass, followed by a punt. They did this many times and we could predict their plays.
Did you see the Broncos vs. Chargers game for comparison as to how the AFL teams call plays?
