I'll tell you what I think. It is sheer numbers. While UCF is getting better recruits than in past years, they still do not compare to UF, FSU, or UM. We get the occasional Daunte, Asante, Doug Gabriel, and K Smith. But UCF consistantly gets worn down late by other deeper teams (like Texas, FLorida, etc...). There is no excuse for the sillyness at ECU, but every team has letdowns and last night was just plain ugly. It will take years to continue to grow. And, as other posters have noted, the national champion schools generally have a long pedigree in their football program. So, UCF needs to understand that it will be a long process before they are even in that discussion, but that it can happen. I'm just enjoying the ride watching the growth of the local team. One or two extra top recruits per year and consistancy can make a huge difference. Thus ends my post (unless I should throw in some "you will never amount to anything", or some "you guys s*ck and we'll pound you on Saturday", or maybe some "fire the coach, school president, and the band director"- which are all very useful statements...HA!)
That is what I thought, not enough depth. There seems to be more depth at USF then in prior years and I saw that in the game this weekend with Florida Atlantic when 3 top players were out but they still moved the ball etc.

Actually it was 5 turnovers in the 3rd quarter. Good luck against USF.

That would probably work as well as whatever O'Leary is (or isn't) doing to solve the problem.
Win or lose, we just need a credible performance on national television so all my friends in other parts of the country will stop all of that obnoxious "why do your guys always put the ball on the ground" email.

Don't look for UCF to be able to move the with their top three players *in* the game. At least not after half time. Look for an O'Dreary second half.

First of all the Gators season only ended two weeks after Ohio State so they both had a layoff. The Gators could argue they played more games and were subjected to more wearing down with the longer season and Ohio State could be fresher. As far as their best player getting hurt, if that is how deep Ohio State is that they fall apart when one player goes down than how good are they really? Not only that, but he still provided a touchdown, and since he is an offensive player has nothing to do with the Gators trouncing Ohio State's defense. The only reason their best player got hurt was because he was hot dogging in the biggest game of his life, showing no class or maturity in the situation. Since you can't spell to save your life I'm going to assume you are a kid, which would explain such an unintelligent comment that the Gators got lucky. Again, I'm not a Gators fan, but your comment was so stupid I had to respond.

I want to weigh-in on this depth issue. UCF's players do seem talented, but you have to wonder why they don't get recruited to the established schools. One reason could be that, while they have ability, they do not have the stamina, in most cases, that a UF, FSU or Miami (FL) look for as part of their total assessment of a player.

They're good, but they can't hang for the 4 quarters that's needed in a big-time BCS program. They could make the team, but probably never start because they can't play well enough down the stretch. Just a guess here...

Something we agree on. Regardless of how good (or bad) the football team is, I have consistantly heard and seen that USF and UF fans are rude, foul mouthed, obnoxious, and sometimes violent. Congrats on your win...not the way we wanted to see it, but you could have given up at the half and that didn't happen.

That is maybe the dumbest statement I have ever read. Where do I begin?
Many D-I recruits play multiple positions both ways in HS. These kids are 18-22 years old, stamina has nothing to do with the losses or recruiting. To even suggest UCF got a Kevin Smith, Joe Burnett, etc because they don't have stamina is completely naive.
Kevin Smith was verbally committed to UF. Then Zook was fired, so Smith committed to UCF. Unlike 20 years ago, teams can only use so many scholarships on football. So good players end up at many different schools, which is why you see parity in recent seasons. Upsets are the norm now.
College football is changing. If you watched the games you'd know. Just because a top-25 school plays a non-ranked school doesn't mean it is going to be a blowout. USC was 40+ point favorites against Stanford and lost. Boise State beat Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl last year. This is why USF went from being non-ranked to #5 in about 4 weeks.
Do you actually watch the games? UCF was an onside kick away from tying Texas. UCF turned it over 5 times in the 3rd quarter against ECU, that's why they lost.

I don't think is stamina, UCF still have to play a lot of freshman in key positions. For some positions we don't have good replacements and that might be the reason the team falls apart in the second half. this year all but 1 WR are freshman. They can be talented but need experience. Look at UF, they get 5 stars recruits and their secondary is suspect because of lack of experience. Teebo is also learning. Ours are 2 and 3 stars

You are just stupid. Yesterday was Sunday and WE have a life. We (UCF fans) don't expend a good Sunday surfing the internet, there is too much to do. Outside activities, NFL football (Buc were killed) and camping to get tickets for Saturday's game = no time for the net. Unless your only social activities are the message boards

You've got to be kidding me. UCF is classless? USF, however, is the beacon of hope for chivalry?? My a**. Do I really have to mention the Bulls' track record? Criminals, criminals, felons, criminals. Now that's classy recruiting, offering scholarships during recess at the Juvenile Detention Center.
The reason we entertain the idea is because it could happen. If UCF plays well, it could happen. Should be an exciting game.
Speaking of the series, I thought it was four games as well. Does any one know? For sure?
Do I really need to mention the Knights track record? Hiring a coach who lies on resumes! It takes a school with no integrity to hire a coach with no integrity!

Thanks!! This is the rap that USF fans are getting. They do well for 1.5 seasons and think they are god's gift to football. They'll be back to reality soon. Maybe not this weekend, but by the end of the season the smack talk should stop. If there weren't so many upsets this season by truly better teams, they would not be ranked #5 (or even close to that).
