Wow. Not that I should be surprised considering it's Nashville but some of you are very ignorant on this subject.

In regards to those saying he should have known about a knee injury... Can you take a step back and think about that for a second? The NFL is big business and their employees (ie athletes) are under constant watch and analysis of a whole team of medical professionals. From team doctors to trainers to specialists, their bodies are constantly analyzed and scrutinized. They have physicals, MRI's, xrays, scans, etc etc. A good football player follows his coaches and trainers and plays and performs based on their instructions. What David had was a bruise on his femur underneath the knee joint, not a sprain not a torn ligament but a bruise on a part of the bone that typically would not touch any other part, therefore not allowing David to feel it. How in the world would he have known if not told by all the experts working on him? He just signed a major contract as Tennessee's big free agent pickup and was scrutinized and analyzed as a major investment yet you are saying he should have known about an injury or defect that he could not feel and that he was not informed about by the team??? come on now.

I'm sure the irony in this statement is lost on you. You should try and use the 3rd grade grammar lesson that I hope you made it to.

Givens was a bust anyway. Never did anything.
Are you talking about with the Titans? maybe the fact that he had surgery on his thumb in week 3, returned 4 weeks early to play against the ravens then ended his career with this injury during that game?

or do you mean the years he went from a 7th round pick to winning two Super Bowls as a starter with the Patriots, setting the all time Patriots team record for post season touchdowns, setting the NFL record for most consecutive post season games with a touchdown, as well as NFL record for most consecutive catches for a first down.

yeah, clearly a bust...moron!

pro sports are very competitive and the starting job always goes to the best player.with that being said im sure there have been numerous players that have hid injuries just to stay on the team.how do we know this was not the case?and how can we be sure it wasnt a previous injury with another team? and do you not ask questions when you see a doctor? i do.especially if my lively-hood is involved.i am all for athletes making as much money as they can ,while they can because they have a very short lived career.they also pay a high cost with their bodies after their career is over.but they all know the risks and noone can speculate on what they may have done if not injured.

I understand that football players play while hurt. At some point he had to know there was a problem that really should have been taken care of. I understand there is a team of doctors that take care of him and follow all the team, but at what point do you stop and listen to what your body says and not wait for someone to tell you to stop? Ok, someone said, "David had was a bruise on his femur underneath the knee joint, not a sprain not a torn ligament but a bruise on a part of the bone that typically would not touch any other part, therefore not allowing David to feel it." He would have injuried it at one point or another. It seems like it would had to have a pretty bad injury to bruise it.

It is embarrassing the way Ch 5 and Beres has conducted themselves. Jeff Fisher is a 'by the book' coach. You all set him up and then tag a late paragraph begging out of your unprofessional behavior. You owe him a huge apology. I certainly get that Givens is wanting money for not playing-tough times out there. I bet he has a mortgage too. Knees are a tricky thing and believe me, those docs at Baptist Sports know EXACTLY what they are doing. They would never put a guy in harms way and neither would the coaching staff. We'll see how this pans out.

Another great example of shoddy reporting by subpar "journalists"...one of which has grandfathered into the position. The other isn't much better...
VERY irresponsible reporting and I think whoever is truly "responsible" for this should own it and give a public apology, not some half-brained anonymous "we're sorry if anyone misunderstood" because it's obvious what was implied...

okay ... you guys are clearly idiots. David givins had small injury in his mucle. when he went for a physical the doctors found this out and they are supposssed to tell the titans physical director about this( witch they did) The titans never told david there for he went playing football without a clue in the world, one turn can ruin his carrear.Com par it to scoliosis, in the beginingno one can feel it and its dangerouse, if you do something bad to it. same thing this was in the beginning stages of his knee problems. aha You cant always feel the pain. And He deserves the money because the titans help important info, that cuased david to lose his dream job. He deserves the 25 million dollars! too bad 3d percent of it (6 million dollars) goes to the lawers.

He knew about the knee injury, and he didn't tell the player. Too bad sports fans seem to be unable to use good judgement on anything outside of who they think is going to win a silly contest.

Hopefully this report by Nick, I'm a genius, Beres will result in a new job in a town far,far away from Nashville. As a bonus he could take Steve Hayslip with him. Now that would be news. Good news!

The correction to NewsChannel5 story was issued by the wrong individual. The station's GM, Debbie Turner, should have given the emendation not an anchor. Nick Beres and the story's producer should be required to take a few days off to contemplate the ethical reporting of a story's facts.

Hopefully their special touches to the Givens story will not interfere with weeks WTVF sports' teams reporting on the Titans.

This is awful and unfair for David to suffer from a injury that could have been prevented. Why should david s career and life be destroyed because the Titans made a mistake in a trade with the Patriots ? They kept a injury from a good man because they were rushed to get a receiver on the field that could make a difference for the team. It wasn't not a moral decision on the teams behalf. They try and run a team like a machine not like a team that cares for players lives. They should atleast give david what he should have made they last 4 or 5 years. Think about the rest of his life now cause of a horrible decision made by a pro football team that just wanted to get a good player out there to get injured seriously. For a passing game?
