Is Central Arkansas a BCS school? No!!! Is it a Division I school? No!!! Is this an example of challenging weaker competition? Yes!!!
Personally losing to a national championship contender (Florida) is much different than beating down a Championship Subdivision team. How can you tell what improvements have been made?
I had a feeling that not playing any BCS schools (with winning records) and then puffing chest was a way to "improve" the program. I have an idea: play a non-BCS school for the bowl game and see what happens. This is a disappointment, but wait...How often has Hawaii beat a BCS school with a winning record? I can't do this anymore, there's nothing positive left for me to say. Best Wishes to the future of Hawaii's football program.

I wonder what Adam Leonard is referring to? Win 10 in '09? Hardly. The same cast of characters on the O-line is coming back. So no improvement on pass protection for QB Alexander. Plus, the offensive play calling won't improve without some kind of change. Change in thinking or coaching. Then there is the defense. No legitimate corners coming back in '09. Again, same cast as this year which proved the talent is not there against top BCS schools. Hate to say it but '09 should be another mediocre season or worse. Have to look past '09 to '10 or '11. Man, this was not the way its supposed to be. Yuk.

"We'll take a look at the film and see what we did (against Notre Dame), every game you play is a good learning experience," junior quarterback Greg Alexander said. "Saying that, our offensive output was just unacceptable. We're going to look at it and hopefully learn from it. It was just one of those games."

Unbelievable! Greg, let's start with your "O" line or lack of it. Since the first day of the season, there has been no improvement whatsoever in that bunch and the blame goes directly to the coaches. Big Mac is too soft with the players and try to be one of the boys.
That's a bunch of crap....start laying the whip and get these guys of their okoles and either produce or take a seat at the end of the bench.
That being said...GO WARRIORS.

what an embarassing okole-whipping (again) in front of a national tv audience...a lot of folks were switching channels before the 28-7 halftime.

Hawaii looked totally inept and they couldn't even hold ND to any 3 & out series- the dbs were out-classed and Claussen played like an AA who had tons of time to make his reads and throws.

If HC Mcmackin wants to move Hawaii to the "next level" so that they can compete against better BCS teams, then a "clean house" among the coaching staff is necessary, they have to develop a better game plan, run a tighter ship (stupid penalties again)and improve that conservative play-calling on the offense.

Coach Mc biggest mistake was that he ensembled a very green coaching staff (Smith, Rolovich & Malloe amd named Ron Lee as the OC who ran Hawaii's offense into a predictable & conservative rut.

Hawai loses 9 defensive staters (good riddance to the secondary)losing their core LB stars & their best DE so expect the defense to dip big-time next season.

On offesne, the quarterbacking is very iffy, no Colt Brennan-type in sight. And thae woeful offensive line looks to be even or worst. Only center Estes is worthy. Hawaii had no running game so the opposition will be tyeeing off on a slow footed Alexnader again (no wonder he wasn't heavily recruited-slow & slower on foot, making reads and throwing motion).

On special team- the kicker, punter & long snapper bidded their Aloha so who is going to do the kicking next season?

At least next season, the out-of-conference games are easier-Central Arkansas, Wazzu, UNLV, Navy & Wisconsin....I predict a 2-3 split hre and in conference, a 50-50 break, so will they win 7 or more games? Eary prediction the answer is NO.

Coach Mac's strength in recruiting will not pay off for several years. This team lived up to its potential which was not great. The new coaches are learning and no one works harder than Mac's staff. If we are patient we will see results on the field. I see a bright future for Hawaii football under Mac's leadership! Give the guy a chance!

The last two games should ruin the whole season , in fact the whole season should ruin any feel good notions. How can any head coach state such BS. First of all the Warriors led the nation in sacks and perhaps hurries. Perhaps more embarrassing, the Warriors led the nation in penalties and most probable in personal fouls. I think Coach Mac should review every coach and make changes and even firing some of them. Sadly I think the Warriors can do better with a new o-line coach. No position should be safe because ultimately the Warriors can always do better.

I really don't think Alexander is the answer at QB he looks great against mediocre (WAC) teams but looks absolutely horrible against decent teams. Yes, we had our problems with the O-Line but he gives up too early on his reads and his throwing motion is too slow and low. We'll just to have to wait and see what the other QB'S have in the spring.

If they want a place to start, I have a suggestion. They should sit everyone down in a room and write one word on a caulk board:

DISCIPLINE.

Everything else can build off of that.

The Fighting Irish were highly hyped. Clausen and his receivers reminded me of Colt and his receivers.
The Fighting Irish were very organized and well disciplined.

Fresno, Boise went down too!!!!!!!!!!

Go Warriors 2009!!!!

The WAC needs to Wake-Up!!!!!

Our Warriors are our ONLY FOOTBALL TEAM!!!!
Needs Better Coaching!!!!!!!!!

If UH wants to improve, change your coordinators. They are assistant coaches not leaders. This is not high school or Div. 1AA. Coach Mac, if you want to be around for a couple of years, you ought to change your in house staff and get some real coaches who can recruit some real talent.

Hmmmmm......All the sideline, beer drinking, sports nuts who only can criticize. I don't see any of you "experts" getting out there and REALLY supporting the Warriors. Oh maybe a season ticket holder....wow....that really gives the team alot yeah, sure. Let's see any of you try to make this a better team. Give money to the Alumni or the UH athletic program so they can recruit better players, better facilites. Mack did the best he could with what he was left with. Give the guy a break, this is his first year. JJ did not do to well in his first year but he had to work to get the team up to speed and took alot of years to do it. Mack has a lot of work to do with little resources to do it with. Support the UH team by being positive. "experts"....give me a break.

Rollovoch has to stop changing the offensive plays called by Coach Ron Lee. And Coach Mack has to let Coach Cal coach the defense. Too many cooks spoil the soup.

Typical response from a someone who lives in mediocrity...same old "give the guy a break" excuse...the bottom line is we made a very bad Notre Dame team look like a top ten juggernaut...there is no excuses for what happened...glaring weaknesses appeared throughout the game and more money or better facilities does not solve this problem...have fun next season with our 500 team.

A stock trader quoted June Jones today, mistakenly naming him as head coach of Hawaii Warriors. Substitute "trade" for "play football", and maybe we have the missing element in this year's team.

It seems our offense this year, line and receivers, did not have this thing called "Unconcious Competence". Coach Mack, consider that maybe the offense needs thousands and thousands of more reps in practice, before they can gain this.

Quoted from CNBC article, Dec. 26, 2008.
Link: http://www.cnbc.com/id/28390714

There is another, final and rarely-discussed stage that is called Conscious Unconscious Competence. Those who have reached this stage are the best teachers, and they are rare and difficult to find. Find one of these people to guide and support you if you really want to learn how to trade.

Champions execute the fundamentals with unconscious competence. That means they've practiced the moves so many times in the past that they can do them almost perfectly without thinking about it. When you can perform brilliantly without thinking, you can perform at a very high levelÂ…June Jones (Head Football Coach, University of Hawaii Warriors)

Thanks and Good Trading!

Two words - ATTITUDE AND DISCIPLINE.

Coach Mac needs to shed the "Bruddah, Bruddah" attitude and start instilling some discipline. Stop sugar coating the failures and deficiencies of the team and start making the necessary changes to correct those errors. That is your job and the reason why you are paid the BIG BUCKS!

The numbers of penalties - especially "PERSONAL FOULS" shows that there is a lack of focus and /or DISCIPLINE on the team. Crack the whip and make it known that this type of attitude and play from any player on the team will not be tolerated! Bench them or get rid of them if they cannot conform.

Knock off the chest pounding and flexing antics after a getting into the end zone or making a big play and instead teach your players that, although it is great to exhibit spirit and fire, to act as if they actually "been there before" and to save their energy for the next play and celebrate to their hearts desire only after being victorious - which, by the way - is only AFTER THE FINAL WHISTLE IS BLOWN AND THERE IS NO MORE TIME ON THE CLOCK! NOT A SECOND BEFORE!!

Now let's get real and GO WARRIORS IN 2009!
