Kuechenberg's comments from this article seem a little sad. My take on this is if the Patriots do go undefeated and win the Super Bowl (still a difficult task), it would definitely eclipse the record of the '72 Dolphins. Simple math shows that 19-0 record is just a bit better than 17-0 record of the '72 Dolphins. From an outsiders point of view it sounds like Kuechenberg can't stand being surpassed as part of the supposed "Best Team Ever" and has succumbed to the "Its my ball and if you don't play my way, I'm taking it home" syndrome. Or possibly, a little weary from all the attention being taken away from him and his team through the constant questions. The argument can always be made that with more teams in the league that the talent is more diluted and easier to win. I might even accept that, but it would still be 2 more wins and a Super Bowl victory if ithey go that far. A little more class would be expected from someone that was ' part" of the "Best Team Ever".

i have been listening to mercury morris and his endless babbling about god knows what lately but in defense of the dolphins i can agree with him on one point. even though the math will show 19-0 obviously being better than 17-0 in the end its still 0 in the right column. so the pats may have won more games but they each lost the same amount so what he said about the pats joining them is fairly accurate. i will say this though, the pats schedule and their opponents records totally eclipse the opponents of the dolphins in 72.

pats 07 opponents: 94-89

dolphins 72 opponents: 70-108-4
