“The Raiders' all-time leading return man”

At least the Oakland Raiders made some headlines this week. Aside, of course, from rumors that the team's rookie head coach, Lane Kiffin, was considering downgrading his job by taking a position with Arkansas. via NFL News

Lane better not leave us like petrino did to the falcons! If he does he will dissapoint a lot of people and be a flat out jerk! But even if he does leave there are other good coaching options!!(shottenheimer, cower)

I don't know if any of the "good" coaching options would be an option for the raiders. You gotta remember that they might not want to work for Al Davis. Like last year when Al ended up having to go with Art Shell because all the other canidates that he was really interested in turned him down like Ken Wisenhunt.

It seems that if you are a good coach (can make the grade), the Raiders is a good team to coach. If you can co-exist with Al Davis, you will be in the Superbowl. Al is very committed to finding, signing and training talented football players. A coach merely needs to focus on training talented football players for game-day. They can not be concerned about finding and signing talented players. I believe Kiffin is that type of coach and will be very successful. He will enjoy the same popularity as Gruden during his tenure, but will have the longevity of Madden and Flores.

Al Davis seems to be impressed mainly by winning his way. Art Shell co existed with him for a good tenure before last years fiasco when Shell returned. Gruden on the other hand could win, but it wasn't Al's way. I guess last year's fiasco made Al Davis learn that his way can't win in the NFL anymore with the way defenses move these days...
